It's especially good, since it's Costco and they have great customer service. :)

I love The O.C, CSI, CSI Miami, Without a Trace, Seinfeld (still), the new Adam Carolla show..hhaha

what about you Ross?

Just use an old PC yo have laying around and make your own HTPC. THen you don't have to pay any monthly fee to use the equipment that you've alreayd paid for.

Can get a PC card, SageTV, a remote, etc for like $100 and it's all free after that.

I actually ended up buying the 140 Hour Tivo for $200. But i think there is a $150 rebate... is this true still?

So, are we eligible for the rebate?

Hey Everyone, i'm thinking about getting in on the Tivo bandwagon. I've been watching a lot of tv and sometimes i miss some of my favorite shows because i get home from work late or i have other plans. Should I get a Tivo then?

Well, I just have normal basic cable tv at home and have a broadband connection. Please let me know what you think. Also are there any good deals around?

Thanks!

As a non Tivo user I always wanted to do the HTPC thing. I had one for a month and then I sold it. It crashed too much. (dell w/ windows media center)

If p2p were to disappear I would pay for a Tivo because it is simple and you don't have to worry about crashing.

You suck at teh HTPC. Your problem has been bolded.

Yup, explains why my older dell machine that is attempting to be a "tivo" is also being a bizznatch.

I don't know why that would prevent you from buying a TiVo from anywhere but TiVo.com and that only temporarily or why that would make you think you shouldn't buy one at all.

from cnet news:
"The impact of the unexpected shutdown was negligible, TiVo's Sloan said, commenting that there was "no disruption in shipping with any recently ordered products." The company, however, expects to announce a new distribution partner later this week, he said. "

so, after reading all of these posts, a summary might be useful.

Series 2 Tivo has a nice features, including networking.
HTPC lacks the "programming options" available w/ Tivo
The Humax 40h goes around around 100 bucks after rebate.

questions......

SageTV and ReplayTV are used with your HTPC?? if so, do they offer "programming"?
TiVo.com offeres the Tivo Series2 DVR and the Humax DVD Recorder w/ TiVo, what's the difference? One allows for DVD burning.
With any networked Series2 Tivo, can you access the shows/movies on your computer? If so, can you burn them to DVD from your computer?
