Get a passport, you're going to have to at some point in the future anyway

Why would you say that? I'm 23 and have never had a passport, and dont plan on ever getting one.

Maybe its a british thing but i've been lucky enough to goto 26 differnt countries at 21 and i'd say its probably my most prised posession. Don't get me wrong, i lived in the states for a year and loved it but there is so much more outside it! Convinced my girlfriend over there to get a passport, she was skeptical for the same reason as u, she traveled a bit with me though and then caught the bug, you wouldnt see her without it now either!

I'm not skeptical. I have no desire whatsoever to leave the country. Unless its part of my job of course.

It's a great document to have. Incase you never bothered to read the inside of it, there's a letter from the secretary of state demanding your clear and uninhibited passage on behalf of the might of the US Govt, which is pretty cool.

international travel is about a 100x easier with a passport. just get one, trying to use a birth certificate is about the easiest way to grief yourself and all the stupid airport employees.

That's kinda what I figured. I just thought I would get ATOT's opinion.

You can get in and out of Jamaica with a birth certificate and a DL, but as stated, its so much faster and easier with a passport.

And if you are married, you must have copy of your marriage license if you are using the non-passport method.

heh, yep.

Also nice to know anywhere I go, no matter what happens (civil war, strife, riots, strife, etc) I can walk up to a well guarded armed embassy and say "let me in, I'm a citizen"
