Should I get a Palm?

I saw this used Palm IIIe for $75 (CDN) and even though I don't really need it, I am thinking about getting it nevertheless. My question is, with only 2mb memory, what will it be able to do? Will it be useful or only another toy? Can it fun Java2 ME (so I can write my own apps)?

If you can gather up the money, get a PocketPC. Not because palm sucks, but because a Palm emulator just came out for them. So you get 2 for the price of o- er.. well, okay.. 2 for the price of 2 (damn $400 units).. but it is the concept behind it..

As for the palm.. apps are small.
If you want to use it as an organizer it will be good.. and have room to spare for a few extra diddies..

I'm gonna try and look for a cheap IIIxe. 8mb should leave space for some games and more extra stuff, right?

2 megs is ok, as long as you don't put a bunch of games and snazzy apps on it. I've got a visor with 2 megs and some games and avantgo and still have about 500k left.
If you just use it as a organizer and phonebook etc, you shouldn't come close to 2 megs

I have a Palm IIIxe I got for free last year.. I LOVE IT! I play games on it all the time, keep my phone numbers, contacts, dates, blah blah blah... I think they are worth it. 2mb of memory is enough for most stuff, you just can't pack it with games (I use 4mb of memory and I have about 50 games on there)

check out the HD forums for an b&w ipaq. They can be had for under $200 US. I've owned two Palms and a Handspring and they all suck ass compared to the ipaq.

Though isn't $75 CDN like <50 US dollars? Up to you then, that's not a bad price.

I already have my own Duron 🙂

And you probably just need a cheaper palm anyway. IIIc's are just nice because they are color and have 8MB memory 🙂

You can get a visor instead. They have springboard
modules that let you use compactflash cards for memory.
(of course thats an addional $50 + cf card)
