Should I get a gun?

My goal is to eventually move out of this neighborhood, let alone the city, but I'm working hard towards saving money. Anyways, my gf sister's bf got jumped a couple of times last year. he's not a fighter and it started by someone spreading a rumor. wel they're back looking to do more harm to this poor guy!!! these cowards even jumped his sister to try to get to this guy.

Anyways, the guys drive by my fiance mom's house looking to see if he's there. I saw them today and I'm sure they'll come after someone to try to get to him. I dont have a crew nor do I go out looking for trouble. BUT, I think I better go get a gun or something to defend myself. Obviously I'm nt going to go up to them and start sh!t, but you never know because ALL my friends live in other parts of the city. They'll help, but it may take them awhile.

I can care less about who's fighting who and I'm not getting in the middle of this whole mess. I do know if someone gets in my way or my fiance's way, someone is going to pay. I know owning/using a gun isn't going to solve anything, but these cowards fight unfairly so it may be time to get a "backup."

I mean, how would it stand up it court if i were to shoot some moron who came after me. let's say 4 guys are jumping me and i start shooting? self-defense?

Dude, you need to get someone to teach you how to use a gun, and training; without it a gun is more of a liability than an asset.

imma be honest with you, the cops around here dont do much. Unless someone got shot, they wont be running to the scene. My fiance father got mugged and we chased the guy to a corner. fvcker got was cornered and started crying. i called the cops and they never came. we eventually let the dude go after realizing if we fvcked him up he might come back looking for more. and if he did, he would've paid for it.

well yes i know that. my co-worker is more than willing to take me to the shooting range. he showed me his gun and it's cool. very small and powerful. he said he'll help me if something were to happen. like i said, i'm not in a gang. i work hard to earn a living but i'm just caught up in the wrong neighborhood.

it's actually not. just a bunch of morons who do nothing all day but smoke weed and hang on the corner. they think they all that cuz everyone is scared of them. they're all losers who need to get a job rather than sit on the corner and hustle.

See, that's why you should have busted him up while you were stilled pissed. I have to say if the cops didn't come for me i'd end up having to let him go too, if it had been too long and I wasn't so pissed at him now. I can't believe that the cops would NEVER come though!

completely depends on the state you're in. in CA you would probably get the gas chamber. self protection laws suck here, if somebody breaks into your house you can't even shoot them unless your life is in imminent danger and you have no way to escape otherwise.

where does he live? i live in a semi-good neighborhood of philly. funny thing is, one section is all italians, and you dont mess with them (they stand up for one another). then the other section are mixed and ppl fight for the dumbest reason.

just last week it was blacks vs asians. the black kids jumped the asian kids cuz they lost in basketball. old guys my age jumped in to help their fellow asians and all hell broke lose. needless to say, i dont live in that section!

If you gotta gun and show it, they may come back. Dont get the gun less you ready to kill a dude. I would though. Its MUCH better to be ready and not need it versus needing it and not having it.
A shotgun is about the best home defense you can buy. You can score them for around 100, 150 at Wal Mart. I myself prefer a pistol for portability, but you need to learn how to shoot it. A shotty you can just point in the general direction and maybe still take one out. A pistol is hit or miss.
I just picked up a hand cannon of a pistol for 110 bucks. Gonna be about 140 after shipping and transfer fees.

hmmm ... if someone broke in i was told to shoot them in the leg. dont try to kill the guy. Now if he had a gun or came at me with a knife then it would be different. nevertheless i would never want to kill anyone. if someone did jump me i wouldnt pull a gun. ill try to fight back, but a gun would only be used if someone used a bat or knife, but then again i would only shoot their leg or something. stopped them from advancing and then call the cops.

Oh yea, there was a thing on the radio about crooked cops. the ones around my way seems to take bribes from drug dealers and they also pick up hookers while on duty. no wonder they never seemt o come around.

the one my friend has cost him $350. no clue what it was but it was small and portable. you could conceal it in yur waist. might've been a 9mm

see, already by saying you will shoot them in the leg shows that you don't really know what you're talking about. when you're in a high adrenaline situation with someone possibly trying to kill you, it is foolish to try a shot like that. you aim for the center of the body. if you get a handgun please get training, and not just from a friend who you go to the range with.

Owning and carrying a firearm is a responsibility that goes beyond how to shoot. It is also about when and WHEN NOT to. Unless you have training that specifically deals with defense situations, carrying a handgun can be very much like teaching a 16 year old to drive by tossing them the keys to an F1 car.

Get that training THEN worry about a gun.

yea im in the middle of a heated battle when my life is being threaten, do i?
a) worry about some dude getting hurt or worst off killed
b) shoot them in the leg to stop the fool from coming after me with a knife and THEN call the cops
c) shoot dude's head and then worry about my life cuz now it's in the hands of the court.

gun is last resort and ill have one just to protect myself.

yes its true anything can happen while you're in the middle of a high adrenaline situation. but i know going into such a thing that i wont be aiming at someone's head or center of body. I know it aint over cuz then the police gets involved and then ill have to worry about our fvck up court system.

so you're telling me to shoot someone squared in the chest or something. a cop once told me to go after the leg or something. impede them from advancing and then call 911 for help.

Well you shouldn't worry about who you are shooting; you are shooting them for a reason. Shooting for the legs is just silly, do you know how hard it is to hit legs when they are moving? Headshots are also a long shot because it's not a big target. Just aim for the torso, anywhere on the torso.

But like you said, it's a last resort kind of thing. If words don't work (they usually don't) and the situation is dire; you really have just 1 choice.


Good luck to you in this situation though. I really hope you don't have to use a gun to protect yourself .
