Prices:

1) Gamecube - $84 + tax
2) XBox - $152 + tax

I like all kinds of games, but Soul Calibur II would prolly be my first purchase (available on both systems). Which system should i go for?

The Xbox if you like FPS and Sports games. For everything else, the Gamecube.

I think he's got it right. I had a Xbox. I don't like FPS. I now have a GC... and I'm very happy. Zelda, Metroid, MarioKart, Super Smash Bros... not to mention, the Gameboy Player is fantastic (if you have an old--or new--gameboy around, you can play your games on a big TV... not to mention you can get some classic NES or SNES games for GBA).

I read that this Friday Walmart has several hour special..........CUBE with Zelda bonus disc for $79.

If you do get the CUBE, I strongly recommend the Wavebird wireless controller. It's awesome.

normally i'd say xbox, but w/ the gamecube prices so low, the best decision would be to get a gamecube and then pick up the next gen xbox (or ps2) whenever they're released.

CUBE FOR SURE!!!

i love my cube!

we have an xbox, ps2, dreamcast, cube in my apt....

we only play the cube because overall it provides the best fun factor

it has the best console feel to it...and the games are jsut damn too fun to play with each other (i have fzero, mario kart DD, soul caliber2, viewtiful joe (BEST SINGLE PLAYER CONSOLE GAME ON THE PLANET!), metroid prime, robotech battlecry, super smash bros. melee, zelda windwaker)

also, i think link > spawn in sc2

just for reference, i think the zelda that comes with it is like a collection of older zelda games NOT wind waker.

GC has MarioKart and Metroid, and a few other good games

Xbox has everything else 😛

I still prefer PS2 .. (I use it the most, and I have Xbox too)

It depends. Do you like munchkins, squishy little balloons, flute music, and mushrooms? Or, do you like to shoot police officers with a .357, run people over just because you can, and use people on motorbikes as target practice with your automatic shotgun, then steal a tank and run over civilians, military, and yet more police officers?

If your answer is the first get a gamecube. If the second get an xbox.

Skoorb: I like to drive at 2000mk/h, fly though impossibly hard amounts of opponents, and I like to shoot zombies with guns, hack them up with swords, and go insane. (F-Zero, Ikaruga, Resident Evil 0, and Eternal Darkness)

I guess a gamecube is for you then 🙂 I personally like to watch the blood streak I leave on the ground after running somebody over and cutting old women with a katana simply for walking down the street

I have both Gamecube and Xbox. Look at the games for each. I would suggest Xbox if you think you are interested in Crimson Skies, PGR2, KOTOR, Halo and similar exclusives and playing online. These games are all great on the Xbox. For Gamecube, you have a bunch of great franchises. I find my Gamecube games the best for pure fun and enjoyment.

well, mario kart is super fun and that games' full of little balloons and little munchkins...

true crime and freedom fighters is out on the cube as well....eternal darkness is thrillling..they're not games for little munckins...

final fantasy crystal chronicles (i think? i forgot) is coming only for the cube...

easy answer basically....

get a cube..it's cheaper, and among the big three, it's the best at being a party system, and a lot of the games are nostalgic and damn fun (metriod, smash bros, fzero, mario kart dd)

mario party's fun.

get it for star wars rebel strike..

get if for the new metal gear solid game taht's coming out in Q1 2004.

and get it for VIEWTIFUL JOE!!! BEST SINGLE PLAYER SIDE SCROLLER EVER CREATED IN THE HISTORY OF GAMING PERIOD!!! (my opinion..and in my head, i'm right..that game is so damn fun)

I've found that Gamecube games tend have have more of a fun factor while Xbox games are better on the eyes. In the end, I go for the fun.

Each has their plusses and minuses of course. I've owned both systems and prefer much like Smolek, the XBox. I plan on picking up a Gamecube soon in the near future though - you can't go wrong with having both.

(BTW Smolek I added you to my Live Friends list) 🙂
