Should I get a BMW 330i or a Lexus is350?

eh..a decently equipped is350 will be 40k+, unless you going for a barebones 350. Meaning no NAV, luxury package, xenons, ML audio.

I'll still take a lexus over bmw. Sure it doesn't perform as well, but it's more than enough. I'm not some racecar driver, i can care less that the bimmer corners slightly better than the IS. The IS got way more cool features than the bmw.

Actually, the IS350 dominates the E90 in acceleration (even when the E90 is equipped with a stick), but gives up a little in handling.

So it's either slighty better handling and slower with the E90 or
Superior engine power/performance with the IS350 and slightly inferior handling

bimmer for my vote.

lexus = teh suxxors. its just trying to imitate what bmw has. this year they have done much better, but still, bmw is still the true sports car.

you can get AWD on 330i (which makes it 330xi), unlike IS which you can only get on 250.

also you can get 6 speed manual (if you care) and all goodies on all trim levels. plus, you got the choices of a sedan, coupe, drop top, wagon, and an M3!

IMO. go for the bimmer.

The E90 is only available as a sedan and 325xi wagon here in the states right now, so HAH!

im prentending that i live in europe...sssshhhh

And your choices would still be the same. There are no E90 coupes, convertibles or M3s available anywhere yet

sorry, i didnt state E90 for ALL the models...only sedan, my mistake. but they do have the touring/wagon though in the 06 design.

Take it from me. I used to drive a BMW 3 series before I bought my IS300 back in 2001. I will NEVER go back to buying a BMW. My brother has a newer 3 series that he's thinking about trading in for a new IS350. I'm thinking about selling my IS to get the new one. You will NOT be disappointed if you buy the IS. Don't listen to anyone that's never driven an IS before and claims that their BMW is better. I've noticed that most BMW drivers are even bigger fanbois than nVidiots.

Oh BTW, the IS350 interior console/dash was SWEET. The 330i was meh. Then again, I don't know if there was a better interior available for the BMW and they just didn't bring it... it was just black plastic.

I believe this man.

Ive driven both as well, that is to say the IS300 and the 330i from the last gen. The IS was a much better car. Oh, and the guy who owns the 330 has had nothing but problems recently. Pathetic considering it only has 70some thousand miles on it

are you a driver? or a person looking for a smooth ride? Both the 330 and 350 to me are smooth rides, with the 350 eeking past the 330 series. The 330 is not as smooth but more fun, the IS350 does have some kick, but still feels like a car on rails.

If your interested in 330i you might want to take a look at the 320si. Its not in the states yet but its a homologation of the BMW racecar for the FIA World Touring Car Championship. The one they used to win with Andy Priaulx. They are only make 2,600 of them. Could be a future e30 M3 or 2002ti.

Its a four instead of a inline six. So it doesn't make as much power. But it gets 31 mpg.

It will be around $29,000.

This is a very tough decision. Both cars have excellent acceleration and handling, gorgeous interiors (though I like the leather in the Lexus more), great looks, etc, etc.

For me, it would boil down to people hauling capabilities. If you ever wish to take more than 1 passenger, get the BMW. Otherwise get the Lexus. 🙂

If they are the same price with similiar options, I would go with IS350. This is coming from a BMW E39 540I owner.

I'd definitely go for the Lexus. Better looking and higher quality, German engineering is way overrated. IMO everyone is behind the Japanese now in quality.

then again, i dont drive and i STILL dont have my license yet...

You have instantly lost all credibility regarding cars.

I would go for IS350. This is coming from G35c owner who has test driven both.

That's silly. If you don't want to have kids, don't have kids.

OP - here's an idea, get whichever car you like more. You're going to be driving it, not us.

This is a really tough call.

I'm coming from an M3, and LOVE it. THat said, they are too much, and i'm thinking of switching to a sedan. The lexus is nice and feels like a quick luxury sedan and the BMW feels more like a Sports sedan. It handles better than the lexus and feels like it really is made for the driver. The lexus is comfier and better tech.

Its hard becuase its comfort and luxury vs sport and driving fun factor

Go for the Lexus.

The BMW's are looking nice these days, but still behind in terms of quality.

Check out how close Lexus gets to "perfect" in engine efficiency!!!

That IS350 motor *sips* the gas and burns it extremely well. I couldn't even consider a 3 series BMW right now. Lexus one upped the competition again with the new IS series.

Japan for the win.............../thread!

you don't drive and odn't have a license? you should be forbidden to give any sort of opinion on cars and definitely shouldn't be any sort of fanboy. i own a bimmer and am ashamed to have you on my side.

LOL, this is just too funny...

i voted lexus.. altho I would much rather have BMW's handling. With that said, it'd be a daily driver, I trust lexus more, and well, I think it looks better than the new 3 series (don't like the rear of the 3xx, not the is either that much, but better). That and I don't like the interior in terms of how it looks. It's quality.. but.. something is lacking from it in terms of asthetics. I'd wait for a 6sp though 🙂
