Most of the pet stores here have some deal with adoption agencies. I wouldn't generally buy a kitten when I could adopt one either.

I got 3 cats...And they are seem to get along....If you introduce them when they are young things will work out good.

It really depends a lot on the two cats. I seem to have had the best luck with 2 neutered males living happily together, they get along very well, groom each other, play together, etc.

Bad luck for me w/male & female, or 2 females (all of them "fixed"). Retaliatory pooping and peeing (mostly pee), spraying, bad attitudes all 'round :p This went on sporadically for several years and even over a move into a new house, so I don't think it was just a matter of time and getting adjusted to each other.

it's weird, i have an old cat who i found stray when he was barely born who usually hates all cats that have been to my house. then about a year ago my parents got a new persian cat and my old cat gets along with her just fine

Well I guess I was wrong. So someone care to explain why when my cat gives birth and 4 months later she is fighting with the kitten? Even when they are full grown they seem to fight so we always had to give the kittens away.
