Should I get a 2500+ Barton or 2100+ Tbred B?

I am thinking that the 2500+ Barton is the better buy right now. It is $137 shipped at newegg. Thats about $45 more then the 2100+ tbred b. When oc'ed the performance of 2500+ is a bit better then that of the average 2100+ oc, am i right?

Are any other AMD cpu's coming out soon (before june/july) that are worth waiting for?

The 400FSB Bartons will be out (supposedly) in May. If you have a board to support them you might want to wait. personally, I am waiting until May to buy my Barton with a 333FSB because the prices should drop once the 400FSB Bartons are out. I hope for an inexpensive 333FSB 3000+ OCing does not matter to me, I'd rather just skip the whole OC thing, so I can't speak to that.

personally, i would get a 1.5v 1700+. between the 2 you listed, however, i would get the 2500+.

Xp1700 are overclocking better than Xp2100's, Xp2500's are luck of the draw.

Im hesitant about getting a 1700+ because that means a high vcore and high temps. Tell me more about these 1.5v 1700+'s. Arent 1700+'s usually 1.6v? How high can the 1.5v 1700+ oc at stock voltage?

i had the same question as you, and after several suggestions at different places i decided to go with the 2500+ on a NF7-S rev2, now i need to figure out what memeory to get.

More people recommended it first off. But you get optical audio out, the Dobly Encoding (SoundStorm), and 2 SATA Channels. There may be more, but thats all I can remember right now.

Here is a review of the rev2

I'm playing with my new 1700+ and 8rda+ right now.
At stock voltage, I could get about 1980mhz(180x11)
At 1.7v I'm at 2200mhz and pretty stable(200x11)
I've booted into Windows at 2300mhz(200x11.5), but prime95 had errors. Hopefully with a little more tweaking here and there I can get it more stable.

Way to many more Options to list + the Abit has Official support for the Barton if you're leanibg that way...i use both CPU's and very little difference for now but the future may be different (software utilizing the Xtra cache)

bah...

my good friend flew out to CA for the very first zwan show.

even though ive been a pumpkins fan for so long, i sadly always had something keeping me from seeing them.. sucks how things work out...

but i was sure to see Zwan when they hit atlanta a few weeks ago! I was lucky enough to see them twice in one day! they did an acoustic performance for a local radio station, and there were only about 70 people allowed in, and i was one of the lucky few. Then I rolled downtown to the Tabernacle and saw them again later that night...

my first time to see Billy, and he was all I dreamed of... 🙂

The performance of my 2500+ (Barton) is significantly better than my 2000+ (Palomino) was. Both were conservatively overclocked. (2.08 and 1.76 respectively)

From what I've read and what I've seen in the few days I've had the 2500+, getting it to 2800+ (2.08) is cake and after that it is more iffy.

Not the exact comparison you were asking for..... but it's all I got. hope it is helpful.
