Should I feel guilty selling my stuff to relatives?

My sister and brother in law wants to buy the htpc that I'm selling. I was hoping to sell it to someone I don't know so I can get a little bit back but they really said they really want it and will pay my full asking price ($300). I just feel guilty if I decide to take their money.

You can always offer a 25% family discount :-D

You really shouldn't feel guilty if you weren't trying to sell it to them, but they want to buy it from you.

Yeah I would feel guilty selling something to my brother. Probably would just give it to him if he wanted it, might make it a birthday or Christmas present or something. Depends on bad you need the money though. If I needed the money, I'd sell it to him.

don't feel bad yet, feel bad after you become thier 24/7 full service help desk for it

This will end badly.

They'll get their $300 back and then some in free tech support.

QFT!

I build every one of my family members a PC at the cost of the parts. Man the 4 years after that was hell.

Oh man, I built my dad a PC quite a few years back... whew.. SO MANY CALLS.. This was right after I got out of school too, and just started my first "real" job so time was at a premium.

I just had to keep thinking about all of the time he spent with me over the years teaching me, well pretty much everything.. Made it somewhat easier..
