Should I feel bad about this?

I'm moving into my apartment tomorrow, and my parents want to spend the night there with me and my roommate after we get everything moved in. I told them absolutely not, and my mom seemed pretty upset about it. Should I feel bad? It would make me feel like a little kid...

 

No way would I (nor did I, my parents wanted to get the hell off campus when they dropped me off b/c of traffic/crowds) let my parents stay with my roommate and me on the first night we know each other. The first night of college life is for partying, not for hanging with your parents.

Tell them to get a hotel room.

Is this your first apartment? If so...invite them to dinner like the person above said. They're probably worried that you've moved out now and they'll never see you. Let them know they're welcome at your place, but not to spend the night and not TOO often.

Then go out and bring the chicks home for the first time! Have fun! :beer:

If they are helping you move and had to travel to a new town to do it, then you should let them. It's only one night.

If you are talking about moving into an apartment in the same town as them, then I'm not sure why they would want to spend the night and you should tell them they are being weird and need to go home.

Sounds like they are helping you move, are far away from their home, and are looking for a cheap place to stay, not necessarily to cramp your style. Either way you should say your sorry to your Mom & Dad for being a weenie and you and your roomie can have fun after they leave.

I'm moving to college just so everyone knows, and its only an hour and 15 minutes away.

I dunno, I think it's worth sleeping on the floor and giving your parents the bed, just so you don't get your roomy crowing "I SLEPT WITH YOUR MOM!!!" for the rest of the year.

I disagree. When it comes time to leave the nest, it comes time to leave the nest. You don't take the nest with you, nor give in when the nest insists on coming anyway.

I disagree. When it comes time to leave the nest, it comes time to leave the nest. You don't take the nest with you, nor give in when the nest insists on coming anyway.

here's what I would do, ask them real nicely and say I would really like it if you did not stay over there... also ask them why they want to stay there? Tell them that it makes you feel that they don't trust you. Then use a guilt trip, "don't you trust how you have raised me?"

If all this fails... say hell f*cking no and storm out of the room
