Should I expect interference?

A co-worker of mine had his usb wireless adapter crap out on him today on his old school laptop (Latitude C610). He needs to have a replacement by Thursday AM and he doesn't want another usb device. Considering none of our local shops carry mini pci cards I suggested a PC CARD version.

He currently has one free PC CARD slot; the other houses a 2 port USB PC CARD. Due to
its size, this USB card would have to be in the top slot and the potential new wireless PC CARD underneath in the bottom slot.

My question/concern is that with this configuration would he expect any interference being "covered" by the USB PC CARD ?

Any thought and comments are appreciated

Hmm Interfernce? Nah.

However if the USB card covers the Wireless card Antenna there might be reduced signal.

Since he does not use Wireless USB any more he can take out the USB card out when he uses the Wireless.

If it is very old laptop could be that a current Card Bus might a problem 16bits v. 32bit

Thanks for the info. The suggestion is good to swap out cards but based upon the work he does with the laptop he says he uses the usb ports and internet connection via wireless simultaneously....

There is No miracle solution that you do not know.

1. Try as is, with PCMCIA.

2. Try another USB Wireless Card.

3. Get a New Laptop.

There's a rather simple solution, I'm surprised noone suggested:

Get a small portable USB hub. Attach it to a standalone USB port, plug the other devices into the hub - then you have both slots free for a wireless card.
