Should I drop calculus?

UT lets freshmen drop classes until the end of the semester as long as they don't take the finals. I don't need the class, and I may fail the final and end up with a 2.0 (for the class). Or I may not, and have a useless calculus credit (3.0 grade) that may or may not be useful (probably not for a design major). If I dropped it, I would have more time to study for American History and increase my chance of an A.

But I have 13 hours from high school with a 4.0 gpa so I can afford some bad grades, but is it worth it?

I personally wouldn't drop.

Bear in mind that it's only going to get more difficult.

A fail not only is character building but puts life into perspective. Stay in the course.

you already put so much work into the class and you want to drop it now?

but if you really need extra time to study for that other class then do it.

as of now, UT does accept the letter grade or just credit. It is the student's choice.

I could see dropping the class if you were failing, but you're getting a C. WTF is so bad about that?

The UT system does - to a certain extent. I think a 4.0 or a 5.0 on the AP exam in the UT system will count towards the equivalent college class, and a 3.0 will count as an elective credit (it did for my AP History anyway)

I took calc 3 times. I must have a lot of character. ;)

I'd stay in it, at least you can put it towards those worthless elective hours.

I wish my school let freshmen drop classes that late. I'd have $5000 in scholarships right now instead of busting my ass to pay for school.

Stick with it unless you think you'll make a "D" or "F." Study harder to make sure you don't make low grades...

just stick with it.. if you're getting a C, then there's nothing wrong with that.. besides, calculus is required for almost all majors.. maybe not art.. but i'm not sure.. you should just stick with it..

Wow you can drop at the end of the semester!!! WTF? when I went to calpoly you could only drop the first two weeks so 1/5 the way through.

C in calc 1. Stay with it but don't even bother with calc 2. It's like 50 times harder.
