Should I do the Atomic Wing challenge at Quaker Steak and Lube?

Atomic Wing Challenge is trying to eat 6 Atomic Wings, wings that are coated in a Habenero sauce.

I'm thinking about doing it. Anyone else here done it before?

I tried a single atomic 6 years ago and while it was really really hot, I suffered no real ill effects. My friend who had half a wing spent about an hour in the bathroom though, and we had to go REAL slow in the car on our way back, no sudden movements or anything.

So should I do it? Is it one of those "if you finish you get the meal for free" kinds of things, or do you have to pay, and how much?

I saw this place last week on "Man vs. Food."

I suppose if people LIKE eating food that hot, it's ok...but it's not for me.

Love the Louisiana Lickers and Golden Garlic myself.

So basically Quaker Steak has nothing to lose while the challenger has everything to lose? That, uhhh... sucks.

I tried the University of Chicken 911 sauce last year and I felt like I almost died. While I didn't do the actual challenge (12 wings in 10 minutes, no napkins or drinks), I did eat the 12 wings with the Challenge (911) sauce. If they are similarly hot, your face will burn while eating them, but that's not the worst of it. Shortly after finishing them, you will feel a rumble in your gut as if the sauce is burning a hole in your stomach. Unlike the burning you feel in your face, the one in your stomach is unquenchable. You just have to tough it out for about an hour. Oh yeah and you'll be sweating the whole time.

Also be sure to try new Atomic Wing Maxi Pads, for those days when it feels like your period is nuking you from orbit.

Atomic Wing Maxi Pads: The only way to be sure.

You always need to put lube on the tip before giving it to the waitress.

If they're tasty and you really enjoy eating them, go for it.

If you want to put yourself through hell for no apparent reason, what state did you vote for Bush in in 2000 and 2004?

it's 150,000 Scoville Heat Units and you have to sign a release form...

I would try the Blazin' Wing Challenge at Buffalo Wild Wings as a practice run

Good Luck

I took that "challenge" at The Lube once, and found that it wasn't much of a challenge at all. Not only was I able to finish all six wings, but I was still hungry afterword and had some Peach Cobbler for desert.

There used to be a restaurant called the Hollywood Grille where I grew up that offered a $20 gift certificate and your name on their "Hot Wing Wall Of Fame" plaque if you could finish a plate of THEIR Atomic Bomb wings. They doused their A-Bomb wings with some Mad Dog 357 hot sauce, which was downright painful to eat! Forget burning your mouth... these things would burn your fingers when you touched them. I was only able to down two of those suckers before giving up, but I had a friend who was able to finish the plate.

Oh, and I should mention that they actually hurt more coming out than they did going in. Just keep that in mind :)

The QS&L challenge is 150K scoville sauce, while Mad Dog 357 is 750K scoville...which is a HUGE leap in hotness.

Normally 500K and above is 'sign a waiver" to buy and use only as an additive to food (ie. not to be used as straight sauce). Sure some people can take it and will brag about it, but their ulsers in the future will make them regret it :)

You guys are making me hungry. I've never had a commercially prepared food that was too hot. I'd love to find something that was too hot to eat :^)

The trick is to swish around olive oil in your mouth before you do it. Helps prevent the oils in the pepper from sticking.
