Well guys, I'm less than a click away from purchasing the following combo..

AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 512K, L2 Cache, Windows Compatible 64-bit Processor 939 Pin - Retail

ASUS "A8V Deluxe Wi-Fi" K8T800 Pro Chipset Motherboard for AMD Socket 939 CPU -RETAIL

Should i spend the cash? Or should i hold on to it? Would you say that the extra 30 fps is worth the $504.00? Just want your opinions.....

My current system consists of the following..

XP 2800+ @3200
Corsair xms TWINX1024-3200XLPRO 1 GIG
Asus a7n8x deluxe 2.0
Radeon x800xt Platinum Edition
Seagate 120 gig Sata HDD.. * 8mb cache 7200 rpm
Audigy 2 platinum ex
Envision 18.1 lcd (23ms)

Thanks in advance....

No, it's not worth it unless you have money to burn IMHO. If anything pick up a <$100 Barton XP Mobile cpu and o/c it to 2.5GHz (3700+).

Grab a Mobile 2600+ and a nice big heatsink from Thermalright and overclock to 2.4-2.5GHZ, that should hold you over until the prices come down on the S939 A64's.

I don't think 64bit is worth using if your not going to use it to it's full potential. I would say your current setup is nice to run. 64bit I think is just something to mess around with until everyhting is 64bit compatible.

Well, if youre going to overclock it to 2.4-2.5 GHz then it might be wirth it. As of now you have a pretty fast system anyway. So if you feel you have the money and will be buying good cooling and overclock that chip i would say yes. You might want to look into some nFORCE 3 socket 939 motherboards aswell.

don't bother yet, hop onteh train of us others with bartons and wait fro winter when prices should have gone down. I am estimating a 15-20% decrase of S939's by then. prices are still too high because the market hasn't been flooded yet, there are a lot of S939 boards poised to come out by christmas and I think 2 more processors by then(correct if I am wrong on that but I think it is 2)
