Should I call the POLICE on my neighbor?

Ok. Guys! I have a neighbor who lives two houses away from me who is really getting on my nerves because of his psychotic behavior. He is watching when my girlfriend and I are home and is constantly appearing out of no where to speak to us. He does not bother me as much as he does my girlfriend and she is getting annoyed, but does not want or know how to tell him to leave us alone without making him angry or whatever. Today he did something very creepy. I was at work and my girlfriend calls me and tells me that he was waiting to speak to her as she was parked in our drive way to come home. She wanted to avoid him, but he stood outside our see through fence waiting for her to come out of her car. She was coming from Subway and wanted to get in the house to have her lunch because she was hungry and it was very hot today, but he started speaking to her, so she did not want to be rude and just ignore the guy so she spoke to him briefly. He started rambing about the weather and asking my girlfriend about therapy, since she is a psychotherapist, but my girlfiend has never had any sessions with this person and he is just a neighbor that we do not know, but is pretending to be our friend. He knows when I am home and asked my girlfriend for her work hours. What should I do about this? Apparently, he seems to be a heavy drinker because he is always red in the face and slurs his speech when he talks.
 
The police officer will probably laugh, then tell you to stop being polite and tell your neighbor you don't want to talk.
 
That is pretty creepy, but I wouldn't call the police just yet. Maybe a little heart-to-heart between you and him is in order and call the police if he continues to bother you afterwards.
 
Find out where he keeps the bodies before you call the police. Otherwise you'll just look stupid.
 
It doesn't sound like he's done anything that remotely justifies you calling the police. Has he tried to come into your home against your will? Has he touched you inappropriately? Have you asked him to leave you alone and he doesn't?
 
So he watches for you and/or your girlfriend to pull into your driveway, at which point he walks outside and over to your house? Very odd indeed, but I don't think calling the police is necessary. Worst case scenario, you tell him to go away, he doesn't, then you call the cops.

Why are you guys all acting like it's weird? Put yourself in his shoes. Maybe he's a lonely old man or something. OP, do you have any more info on him? He just sounds lonely to me. Maybe in your gf he sees something in himself that he missed out on. Just talk to the guy, ask him.
 
When he starts talking to you when your in the shower or trying to sleep, it's time to call the cops. Just to screw with him, go to a bar or somewhere's for a few hours after work and see what he does.
 
Yeah...the police probably wont do anything until you give them a really legit cause. I would say something...then go to a higher, legal power if the problem persists. If you tell the person to leave you alone and he doesn't honor your wishes, I think that's a legit cause. Or you could get him with trespassing. Funny story...We had a guy ask us for money one night. He just pulled up in our driveway, so I told him he should probably just leave. Well, the guy came back, not onto our property, but drove by the house a few times. After that, my brother called the police. A cop came to our house and asked if we had any firearms. We told him that we did and he said, "Well, if he comes back, then pull your gun and tell him to leave. If that doesn't get him to leave, then shoot him in the knee or somewhere that would not be a fatal shot."
 
I suggest you begin to document his behavior and setup a video camera to see if you can catch him snooping on your property. If his erratic behavior continues call the police, and if they can't do shit, purchase a weapon to protect yourself from this creep.
 
Never piss a nutcase off. They hold grudges like crazy. Haven't you seen the movies? Even if you try to amicably talk to him he'll go loco. That's why they are psycho--they don't know it's "socially unacceptable" in the first place (or do but go against it). Typical movie scenario is the protagonist finds nut is doing something creepy but upon trying to report it to cops, they confront him and can't charge him, then he starts the revenge plot.

Play it smart:
Get your girlfriend to talk to him (he seems to want it) and tell her to slip in something really nasty. Like the fact she has irritable bowel syndrome and can't stop knocking out diarrhea and has to wear diapers. Seriously. It will gross him out and he'll just go psycho on some other woman neighbor instead 😉

Edit: just make sure he doesn't have a fecal fetish first!!! :Q
 
Yeah, don't piss him off, but maybe he really wants help---have your girlfriend refer him to somebody else and say that her schedule is full or something?
 
Tell him he seems like a nice guy, but your girlfriend just got out of (insert your state's prison/mental hospital) for killing her neighbor who was overly friendly, and you'd hate to see that happen to him...you actually like this girlfriend, and would hate to lose her...again.

Saw them in concert last night. Pretty awesome.
 
Sounds like the guy is looking for help by asking about your girlfriend. Maybe next time he brings up the therapy again ask if he needs to schedule an appointment. Maybe he's crying out for help but doesn't quite know where to turn.
 
how does the guy your gf is a therapist?

that's the only strange part for me. if he needs help, he has to call the office and make an appointment, don't have her just meet him.

my parents, my neighbor and the family across the street were being constantly harassed by the psycho that lived behind us. he would knock on the door, ask for people who didn't live there, sit outside the house in the car, leave FLOWERS AND ALCOHOL at the door, on and on. then he started calling in fake noise complaints against my parents and our neighbors, and it was getting ridiculous. the cops couldn't do much - they would talk to the guy and tell him to leave them everyone alone, mostly because i think they were tired of all the phone calls regarding noise complaints (and they were at RANDOM times, once it was at 7am.)

the furthest it ever got was filing a police report. they were going to file a restraining order, but the guy wound up moving out or finally staying away, because he hasn't bothered them for a few months. also my parents got a dog, but it's just a maltese, and he was a puppy when it first started, and i was more worried about the psycho throwing tainted meat over the fence. also my neighbors have yappy chihuahuas and that didn't stop him either.

just their experience.
