Fireworks.

nope.. i have heard this boom far before new years!

You realize those watching the New Years Eve specials would have set the first batch off at 9pm, when it was midnight on the eastern coast and the Times Square ball dropped, right?

(FWIW, this threw me at first, too - this is our first new years eve on the west coast, and everybody setting everything off at 9pm seemed kinda weird until we figured out what. Times Square ball drop = lots of fireworks.)

if you idiots read teh other thread that i linked on teh first post you would see i complained about it LAST WEEK!

I put up a sign on the mailbox saying "if you are hearing a boom at night, its your gas heater that's exploding.. please have it fixed before this place burns down".

and yes there are 2 posters there!

LAFD should investigate.. the HOA hasnt done jack.. the so called president of HOA is name sake on this. Infact I think its HIS place that's doing that.

In anycase LAFD would defiantely want them to replace the broken fire-extinguisers down in the garage area - the one i saw was last serviced lets see .. 1996 if I am right!

Nobody sees those fire extinguishers, but i do, my mom's garage door is right there.

this sounds like a plan.

Is Sacramento that bad? Or does everyone outside of CA think it's one huge gang/drug haven?

Questions...

Is it making an echo? Or reverberating?
Is it shaking the floor or the walls?
Is there any smell that follows?
Is it a hard sound? Or more like a 'fwoomp'?

Sorry for the nefs crapping in your thread, I read your first topic when you posted it and was curious as to what it was. Houses have been known to spontaneously combust, you know. A furnace explosion destroyed a house in a county over from here, blew debris about 200 yards away. Wood and clothing were found on top of the neighboring houses :Q Thankfully no one was home.

Well there is an echo due to the shape of teh complex. However when im in my room or in teh kitchen i hear it most, because im facing teh central garage complex.

Lastnight i did feel some vibrations, but usually its just the sound. The unit could be next door or on the other side.

Well we dont smell anything, i have tried to smell, but havent found any.

As for teh sound, its not muffled, its a loud BOOM. You can call it a hard sound.. cause it's definately an explosion.

The problem is all the A/C & Heat units (combined units) are on the roof. You have to go up via the staircase and then get to the roof, open another door and then you can walk on top of all the townhouses to find your unit.
