Go up there and talk to them like an adult. They will understand I am sure.

If this sex is as angry as you say, record it!~

Not necessarily true. The only way you can reach police dispatch in some areas is to call 911.

Many, many people have told me that... but I know several dispatchers that say it really doesn't matter which you call, it still goes to the same incoming phone trunk :-\ (at least in the few cities that they work in)
It does go to the same dispatch center in most cities, but dispatchers use the non-emergency vs. the 911 calls to determine which calls take priority.

To the OP, use your city's NON-EMERGENCY number. Notice that they ask, "911; what is your emergency?" when they pick up the phone. A noise complaint is not an emergency.

Don't use 911 if it's not an emergency since you don't hear anyone yelling for help. Just call the normal police number and complain. Then call the super/landlord/apartment manager/etc and lt them know it's nuts and many of you in the adjoining rooms are getting ready to break their leases because it's impossible to live there with all the screaming.

There were these 3 people outside my window last night that were screaming their lungs out at eachother. I'm on the second floor, a good 100ft away, and I could hear every word they were saying. Two guys and a chick. The chick had an empty bottle of 5 o' clock (the half gallon variety), and she was waving it all around like she was going shank someone with it.

Then the police showed up. Good. Its like 3 am. I can go back to sleep now.

*Snore*

911 isn't for noise complaints, but as the OP said, the first time, there seemed to be physical abuse. However, this couple just seems wacko... or maybe they really like to have make up sex

Make a request to have them move to a ground floor or into a room opposite of the one you sleep in. Complain to management.

Others above have covered it, but I will repeat to let it really sink in.

1) Tell the management. Most leases state that after a few noise complaints you can be fined significantly or even evicted. That threat may make them stop. If not, hopefully you can boot them out of your apartment.

2) Don't call 911. The police have a non-emergency number. Try looking it up in the phone book.

3) You could just be a nice neighbor and try to get to be friends with them. Then let them know that they are too noisy.

in some areas calling the police won't get anything done

a few years back there was 3 or 4 younger kids outside around 3am, they were making weird noises and sneaking around
i looked up the number for the local police station, called it, got an answering machine - the message on the machine said to call 911 for all situations

Call the precinct but not 911. It's an anoynomous domestic disturbance complaint. If everythign is okay then it will be fine. It's their job to check this stuff out.

No, I don't live on Prince Edward Island nor PEI belongs to Nigeria, and Jerusalem isn't the city of Nigeria.

O.k. I let it go this time but I'll probably call local PD when they're at it again. I guess it'll be either tomorrow or day after tomorrow.
