Philips 201P10

21" (20.0" viewable)
Flat CRT
2048x1536 max res
1600x1200@97Hz
.24 mm grill pitch
320MHz dot rate (bandwidth)

I've heard some very contradictory things about Philips. They make very nice televisions, shouldn't that carry over to monitors?

I had a Dell 19" monitor made by Philips that wasn't very good but then that was a while ago and one of the first 19"ers. I'd try to get a look at any monitor you are interested in before you buy.

I have a Philips 201P that I bought in November '98. It's a great monitor and I don't intend to replace it for a long time. It cost over 1K at the time. The specs for the 201P10 look to be even better. I'm an engineer and I've used workstations that have high-end 21" monitors from Sony, Viewsonic, Hitachi and SGI, and the Philips I have at home compares very favorably with them. You should try to see the monitor in action first if possible. That's a big investment.
