Should I Buy The Opteron 148 NOW?

I've noticed the Opteron prices are starting to go sky-high. ZipZoomFly has the 148 for $238 with 2 day free shipping. I was wondering if I should get it now then wait to buy the rest of the parts later. That would include hopefully the SLI-DR Expert, 7800GT, and 600W PSU.

So should I get it now? or later?

I was thinking the same thing earlier in the week and I ordered from monarch. The day after I ordered, the price shot up by $20. AMD is discontinuing distrobution of the 939 optys to all but large system integrators (gateway, etc). After January there won't be any new ones in the pipe.

I should get it tomorrow. If its cabye or even better cabne, it should easily do 2.8 on stock volts. I'll be putting it in a dfi-expert after xmas sometime. Still haven't ordered that as I'm waiting to see what kind of issues pop up with it and how long it takes to fix with BIOS updates.

Yeah my CABYE from the Egg does 2.8 at below stock volts (1.35), I have poor cooling to try much higher.

I ordered retail 148 from Mwave on 12-01. Received a CABYE 0543; using water cooling, bump volt .025, prime 95 stable at 2904 MHz. After running Prime for 5 hours, temp is 52 C.

On water? Ouch, that seems way high.

I don't think motherboard censor is really correct; it shows sytem case temp at 40 C, and I know it really is around 24 C.
