steam is the future of game distribution
I hope not, or it's the end of gaming for me.

seconded.

Steam is a steaming piece of turd.

Online distribution is the future, whether or not thats Steam remains to be seen.

Steam works great for me and I've never had any issues with it.

Games are cheaper.
Getting demos has never been easier, nor is removing the demos.

Cheaper? Didn't Half-Life 2 cost the same or more than the original? The original Counter-Strike was free.

Demos have always been easy to get and remove.

The original CS was free because it was a mod not made by Valve. The same with Day of Defeat. Now it's a full retail game and they have to pay their team somehow. I don't think he's comparing the prices to the past, he's comparing them to the same prices in retail stores. In which case he's right. All of their prices on steam are the same or cheaper than BB, gamestop, EB and all them.

I can't say that it has been working great for me but, but i won't deny it that its a neat little thing. Its very convinient.

i don't have any problems with STEAM. I like digital distribution, as long as the download speeds and prices are good. I regularly use STEAM and D2D for purchases. Sometimes the speeds and prices and selections are not so good, but its still ncie to be able to buy a game without having to drive 45 minutes to a store that sells them.

I had a problem getting CS:S to connect to servers but that has been fixed. I don't know if that had anything to do with STEAM though.

I agree with pontifex on this one, my only beef with D2D is that they are slowwww in getting out any patches. About the 45 min drive to go pick up a game, well, my drive is much less then that, but I have to call first to make sure the store actually has the game in stock. Digital distribution works for me.

People are still badmouthing steam? When it first came out umpteen years ago I hated it. That lasted about a week.

Then they went and fucked up the friends list.
