Ok my mobo is KT333 epox, I already have 2x256 samsung DDR333. And I am thinking of buying up to 1gig of ram.
I was gonna order a 512megs samsung DDR333, to have the same memory in the three slots... but found out that Samsung DDR400 is the same price as samsung DDR333. I know the DDR400 would run down to the bus speed of the rest of the system (166mhz) anyway, but my question is.. Is it better to have three identical sticks? or it really doesn't matter and I should get a 3rd stick of DDR400?

Get two (512MB) sticks of DDR400 and sell the DDR333...at least you'll be safe for future upgrades...until DDR2 comes out that is;)

It won't matter, unless the DDR400 you're looking at is the cheap, 4 layer stuff. In this regard, I'd opt for the PC2700 if it's the quality stuff. I've mixed and matched various DIMMs of different makes/speeds with my Epox 8k3a and it hasn't made a difference.

Yo, I don't think it matters much for you if you get DDR333 or DDR400 for your extra stick of ram. If I were you I'd probably just get the 333, just to be safe. Are you having problems w/512 mb? That's usually enough unless you're doing alot of digital video stuff.

Buffalo Winbond PC3200 256MB - $45

Buffalo Micron PC2700 256MB - $43

Wow, you save $2. PC3200 = Future proof.:)

I'm actually playing Star Wars Galaxies and when I play it, the game uses my ram @100%. This kinda annoy me, when sometimes the games keep locking/freezing when loading areas I just when trought, and I just tought that if this game is using so much ram, than most likely there will be games using that much ram in the near future.
