Are you going to need that much performance? Do you care about your battery life?

i am selling off my amd desktop, so it will be a desktop replacement laptop, just wondering how much more it will get me.

if memory serves, core 2 it's like 20% faster clock per clock, and i think it uses like 3% more power. Personally i think it's worth it - you get better performance, 64-bit capability, virtualization, and SSE4 without much of a hit to your battery life.
