I just picked up an X1950 XTX along with anew PSU for my (non AM2) dual core 4400+.

At the moment I am using the following ram:

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?...21&vpn=VS1GBKIT400&manufacture=CORSAIR

I have a dual channel kit with each stick being 1 gig (2 gigs in total)

Do you think there's any point in upgrading my ram? tmk the best I can upgrade to is 533 mhz, do you think it's worht the money? or should the ram I have now suffice.

Any feedback is appreciated! :)

If you saying that you want to buy 2GB RAM at this time?
Wait until price go down. Your 2GB is over $300 CAD.

err, sorry, I must have not been clear. What I was saying is I currently have two gigs (two 1 gig sticks) of the above ram that I linked. I know it's value ram, and was wondering whether I should bother spending the money to upgrade? or is the difference not very big?

Unless you plan on overclocking, there is no reason to get the expensive RAM.

Value ram is just fine.

In fact for most users going for more expensive ram is just a waste.

Actually I don't see anyone here claiming to be a professional in the memory industry. I asked Corsair, and they told me, when I was asking the same types of questions, that there are differences.

Now granted the differences might be slight, and depending on who you are, they might not be, and you might really see a difference, it all depends on the needs.

XMS uses a better build process, better chips, faster performance etc....

And even though the memory controller is on a 64x CPU, you can still get a performance boost with higher performance, lower CAS memory.

So Qosis it all gets down to how much you're trying to squeeze out of everything, and when people say save money, you are not spending that much extra for XMS over Valueram, to get a better performance boost.

So consider how much you have invested in your box, and if an extra $50-$100 means nothing to you for a few more percentages of performance then you might be glad you did, and if you know hardware to see and feel the differences, then you'll notice it, but if you're a newbie when it comes to these things, then you might not see anything and consider your money a waste.

Also if you wanted to OC the memory XMS will handle this better then Valueram to give you more boost.
