Should i buy an MD player?

My old MP3 player, after 6 months of abuse has given up the ghost and i want to replace. Im thinkin about an MD player/recorder. What do i NEED to have, which is the best bang for buck and are they really as good as theyre cracked up to be?
 
Lol...ok not what i was expecting...reccomend me a good MP3 Player then i need a shed load of space or at least the oppotunity to expand it and has to look good! Thanks

ipod is pretty much the only good all around mp3 player... all around excludes price =P

you wouldnt find one by doing a search on mp3 players, but they play disks that contain mp3s...so something that plays mp3s would be called a mp3 player, no?
 
if i'm not mistaken (and i may very well be), then cd players would also be considered mp3 players...

i don't think MD players use mp3 files anymore than cd players use mp3 files... sure, you might record some music onto the minidisc from your computer from a source mp3 file, but you could do the same with a wav file... and if they did use mp3 format to store the music, that would really suck considering md players boast music quality as one of their selling points...

actually, ignore the part about boasting music quality... apparently MDs are to CDs how JPGs are to TIFFs... this page explains it 🙂

allow you to copy mp3s onto discs? allow you to do such without annoying copy right software in the way? allow you to drop mp3s into the device without first converting it into their own attrac format? etc etc etc, remember sony... is SONY MUSIC!! they are paranoid and screwed their md potential.

hmm... maybe what i had was a mp3 md player... i used to always just send my mp3s via my sound card's optical out into my md player/recorder... i don't remember mp3 being in its specs tho...
 
I own a Sony NetMD N505 myself and I haven't had any issues with it. Works just fine and has pretty darn good audio quality, at least for the tracks that I do in LP2. But for you perhaps a hard drive based MP3 player would be better. iPods are great and all but they are quite pricey. You may want to look into either a Creative Nomad Zen or perhaps an Archos jukebox as well.
