Should I buy a Dreamcast?

With them dropping to $50 (and I could probably find a hot deal), it's really tempting. I don't play my PSX anymore though and I would hate to buy a DC and then stop playing it after a month or two. Do you think it's worth it? And what are some of the best games so I can see what is considered the best games then see which would interest me and then go from there.

I'd just head to dc.ign.com or gamespot's Dreamcast section. If you go to ign then click reviews then sort it by score and select 9. That way you can see all the very good games there are for the Dreamcast! Ah hell I'll link it:

P.S. DREAMCAST FOR LIFE ;)

Yup I just read the list of high rated games from that other thread. Looks like quite a bit of good games but a lot are sports and I don't like them other than like THPS2 but I played that far too much on PSX and I wish they had THPS3 on the DC then that'd be enough probably.

But for anyone else/was in the same position, or anyone else who likes online computer games, is it a good buy then? I know I can only tell whether I'll play it or not but man I just don't wanna buy it and some games then just get bored and continue with computer games.

It's worth it. I've had mine since 9/99 and haven't regretted it. I just bought four games from it this past weekend. It's such a great deal right now.

I got one. At first, I was like man what a waste of money since I don't have a whole lot of time to play it. But man nowhere else does 50 bux buy you that kind of hardware, I mean I just spent 20 bucks in white LEDs.

You should have gotten it at BB the past couple of days, that racing game that was free is pretty fun.

Of course you should get a DreamCast. People in the hardware forums talk about the price to performance ration, well the DC has the best price to performance ratio for any system out there now.

Great investment. I didn't think I'd like it, but I probably spend more time playing NFL2k2 then all my other games combined. I can reccomend Soul Caliber highly, it should come packaged with every DC, IMO.

Do you have this in a txt file so that you can paste it really quick? Oh, and get yourself a small mirror, one for the desktop, and a black sharpie, then write MOD on your shirt just to the right of your right breast. Then look in the mirror when you paste these well thought out response's. Your Mom would be proud. :(

You know what would really be ironic is that all these sales of the DC at 50 bucks makes it the most popular console two years after it's release and after it's been shelfed by Sega.

Yes.
Sega GT is great if you would like a game that is close to Gran Turismo. I just bought Jet Grind Radio yesterday at BB for 7.99 too!! A lot of games are selling at prices like that now. The only game I can't find is Sonic Adventure 2.....Its like the stores got 3 copies and they quit making anymore or something.

I gave in and purchased a DC for $55 shipped from Amazon.com. I played Crazy Taxi and Hyrdro-Thunder on my friend's DC and loved them. I'm also looking forward to the fighting games like Powerstone and stuff.

<< I bought a 2nd one I like it so much :) >>

I actually have 3 now. The 1st is my main system, the 2nd is earmarked as a holiday gift and the 3rd will serve backup duty.

Shenmue should be packaged with every DC. Make that Soul Calibur as well. Hmm, how 'bout NFL2k1 too? That's it: the Dreamcast Ultimate Bundle!
