Is it common for sellers on ebay to try to sell items that they actually dont have?
I would hate to see this guy get away with all that money.

yes it is...I have been using ebay since late 2000 and it's getting worse and worse, which is why i switched to paypal...I was being ripped off every 1 out 5 items that I bought

I believe what happened with the bid retract was that him, or a friend bid on it, hoping to raise the bid, then removed it when he saw that he was the winning bid... maybe not, but it could've just been a ploy for more $$$. I'd definately file a dispute.

If this does end up being a scam how much do you think the OP will end up getting back from PayPal? Any posters with past experience?

America to Japan? No tracking? Sounds like he just sent it parcel. Don't be surprised if it takes a month and a half, and that is not including going through customs.

You should be very worried..

Say goodby to Xbox360..
Demand a tracking number.. If he sent it parcel.. contact Ebay..

As son as I won, I gave him $405 and $65 for shipping . Its crazy to send something that expensive by parcel to japan without insurance or tracking. Anyway he isnt responding to my emails anymore and I already filed the complaint. Im not going to sit back and wait 2 months to see if this package ever arrives. I stilll want a 360 but ebays a bad option after this experience.

Seller:
I sent it though the post office you will get it i promise dont worry ok it will be there sorry for the wait.

For $65 you should have gotten air mail through the USPS. There is no tracking number for this kind of thing, but he'd have to fill out the large, white customs form for stuff over 3lbs. I'd also think that he'd insure a $400 package.

Air mail to Taiwan takes about 10 days. Surface mail is advertised to take up to 6 weeks, but it's always been 2-4 weeks for stuff that I've sent. In either case, there's a customs form that's stamped with date seals by the USPS. Ask him to see a copy of the customs form or the receipt (which has the destination and date on it).

Good luck... and why didn't you just buy one in Japan.

Don't believe him. He's trying to drag it on until the time frame for payment retract expires. You need to get your money back 1st.
