Should I be worried? video drivers crashing but switching PCI slots fixes it

Lately I've been getting crashes when gaming (BF4, League of Legends) involving the video card. I tried reinstalling, updating, and switching around my nvidia drivers. I finally decided to try and switch the video card from the top slot to the bottom slot and now all those issues are gone.

Could this possibly be a motherboard problem or can it be software related? Just concerned about future issues.
 
I guess it could be either software or hardware. The only way to know for sure would be to do a fresh install of the OS. Do you have a spare drive to test with in case it turns out to be hardware related?
 
maybe it just needed to be reseated ,or the new slot caused the bios to think about what it was. [love plug and play ]
-try putting it back into the same slot again
-reset the bios make sure it's the latest
-disable on board igpu
-boot to pci-e not auto
-set for pci-e 3
-also check your sound device is the default play back device ,winxx see's the nv hdmi as 4 x play back devices.
some things to try.

thinking about it, i did take the video card out to test the quietness without the EVGA cooling fan. and it happened after i put it back in.
