Should I be seeing a 20*C drop after installing the 212+?

Hello guys

I have an AMD Athlon II X4 635 stock and 8GB RAM.

With the stock heatsink my CPU would idle at around 45-47*C so that got me worried and I went on to purchase a Coolermaster Hyper 212+ and after installing it today my idle is around 25*C and I ran Prime95 for 6 hours (the blend test) and the max temp was around 36-38*C. Room temperature is around 23*C just for reference. Should I be seeing such a drop in temperature from stock-> Hyper 212+? It's almost a 20*C drop so I was just wondering

From stock to a 212+? Yea, seems about right. The stock probably used their thermal paste/glue and now you're using AS5 or something better?

The paste that comes with the cooler master is going to perform much better than the grey compound that AMD uses. I have dropped 5C with the stock heatsink just by removing that stuff and using a basic silicone based heatsink compound.

My 965BE dropped by about 22C or so after switching to a Xigmatek Gaia HSF.

Awesome temps and must have done a swell TIM application. For the $ the 212+ just plain rocks
