Should I be an asshat to my step-father? (a full paragraph story)

Get one of those entry-exit counters you see in museums and such. Heck, steal one from a museum. Put it on your room to record how many times he's in there. Go through his room exactly as many times.

LoL, i like how quick people are to judge. First of all its not a big deal for a 21 year old to live with parents. Sorry if I'm not off at college like "normal" people are supposed to do. I went to college and lived away from home for 2 years, then joined the Army and was gone for 5 months. Now I'm here untill i get my orders for active duty and move out for good. There is no point in moving out, cuz I would have no friends available to share rent with, and am not making enough at my temporary job to pay 800 a month in rent. And have no aspirations to get a real job, because I'm leaving for good soon.

Oh, and my room is kinda funny angled. You'd really have to look behind the door and be searching around to find the 2 not so dirty dishes i left. Either way, I dont want him coming into my room. Since I've been like 12 my room has been my place to chill. I never sit in the living room or upstairs.. when I'm home, I'm in my room.. period. Its almost like hes coming into my apartment and wandering around.. daily. Like I said, theres no reason for anyone else to come downstairs but once a month.

so why don't you talk to him about it? It sounds like you resent the change he brought, but maybe he doesn't know it. He goes overboard on his cleaning and is completely oblivious to the fact that it bugs you. Why not talk to him and say you agree to always put the dishes in the sink if that'll get him to respect your space.

btw, this is going on the limited amount of info so I could be completely off on this, but why not try a civil solution before you lock him out?

Besides since when did eating in the bedroom become acceptable behavior? Don't you have a kitchen where you can eat? I eat in my bedroom cause its my apartment but when I am visiting my parents I follow their rules.

My mother did that as recent as a few years ago, but would deny it.I set my webcam up on motion capture when we left for a weekend and she was quite upset to find that I'd filmed her while we were away. I said that I had done it to film the cats, but that I noticed her in there. She made up some lame excuse about having to close the window (which was not closed). I think it taught her a lesson.

Well, there are a few options.

1) Talk to him about it, see if he'll agree to stop.

2) Install a lock on your door.

3) start hiding your dirty dishes and glasses in his room if possible. Just to mess with his mind.
