I think he probably resents your presence and is staking a claim to the territory. His actions are saying, "I'm here, this is my space, I just let you use it". Additionally, he has some issues if he felt anger, and the need to express it to a party uninvolved, about the whole cleaning\eating thing. There must be some underlying reason why the house has to be clean even if the cleaning interferes with the parties living there.

obviously not if you had a cup and a plate in there.

I dont really see the problem of having a cup of water and an empty plate? How "dirty" is that? if you think thats dirty then your a clean freak.

well the plate had crumbs. crumbs attract ants, cockroaches etc.

how hard is it to carry the crap upstairs and put it in the sink? I have to agree with him taking the stuff out. having a bug infestation is a pain in the ass to kill off. it is also very expensive.

a good way to stop him from going in and getting stuff is to stop keeping plates and such down there. you are a grown man (well nearly but close enough). Are you going to leave crap like that out when you get your own place?

I guess I've got some random thoughts on the matter.

1. It is healthy to eat in the kitchen and to dispose of the dishes immediatly after eating. This is proper but isn't practiced much anymore.

2. Like you, I live at home and my room is pretty much where I spend all my time. Unlike you, my room is the cleanest room in the house because I am the neat freak and not the other way around.

3. He most likely has a disorder. Being the case, I wouldn't get mad at him or seek to mess with his mind. He probably needs real help, but that is neither here nor there as far as your temporary living conditions go. Does your mother see it as a problem?

4. At this point and being so close to leaving, I'd work with him instead of against him. I'd realize that he has the ability (and exercises it regularly) to enter my room and make sure that nothing I don't want him seeing is attainable by him. I'd also try to keep it so that I'm only drinking liquids in my room on a cup holder.

WTF ? Does he really have intentions of sneaking around in your cabinets or drawers ? If he's just coming around to clean up, there's no reason to be rude about telling him he doesn't need to do it. Better yet, just keep it cleaner yourself so he has no reason to come around anymore. Anyway, it's only 1 more month.

And my room is usually pretty clean.. i've probably left dishes out 5 times in the 4 months that I live here. Like I said, I left the ones this morning on purpose hidden behind the view of the door to see if he'd check.
Like you said, it's ridiculous. You getting upset I mean, Grow up soldier.
People who have nothing to hide , hide nothing.
If you're living in the Hotel Mom, you should stfu, grow some ball hair and BE A MAN about it.
Either speak with them in calm measured tones about it or admit you have an issue you're not facing.
Either way, your easy ride will be ending shortly.
BTW, it's their house. They absolutely have a right to enter your room and pick up anything they want.
Landlords can let the police into a renter's room without a search warrant, if the police simply ask the owner of the property.

I'm surprised you don't even have the guts to confront your own stepd dad
