Should I Add Another 7800GTX For SLI......

Below is my current system. I built it back in January with the idea of adding another 7800GTX around mid year. It seems like they have stopped the production of the G70 chipsets so the supply is limited. And the new G71s should be out this month. I can get the eVGA 7800GTX KO Edition from NewEgg for about $495 right now. I'm afraid if I wait for the 7900GTX to become avaliable I will run out of time to take advantage of eVGA's setup program.

AMD64 X2 4400+
ASUS A8N32-SLI Dlx
2GB PC3200 OCZ Platinum
eVGA 7800GTX KO Edition
74GB Raptor
400GB WD SE16
SB Audigy 2 ZS
Silverstone 600W
Silverstone TJ03

I don't see why then. My single GTX and Pentium 630 can play every game I have at 16x12 with AA/AF, the only exception being FEAR (16x12, just no AA). If it were me, I wouldn't waste my time/money.

SLI really isn't worth it, from my perspective at least.

You have a friggin 7800GTX, how much more power do you "need"? :)

It's not that I can't play anything now, its that this will be my last upgrade to my computer for a good while; other then a better sound card. I'm hoping that a SLI 7800GTX will be able to play any new games that come out in the new year or so. And as time goes on it will be harded to find another 7800GTX Ko Edition.

Plus its the last piece I need to finalize my plans to control the world..... MuHahahahahaha

I say if SLI is what you want...then by all means go for it...If your budget has room for it, then you deserve it...I too would love to have a 7800 GTX SLI setup, but it isn't feasible for me at the moment...Don't worry about everyone else telling you it's a waste of money...

If SLI is what you want, get it...

Might as well wait for them to drop in price. Absolutely no sense in paying $450+ for one now. You can pick one up for half that in 12 months, when you actually could make use of it.

I went ahead and pulled the tigger on the purchase. One is on the way from NewEgg. Its most likely overkill, but its mine. I'll be happy with it. And I quess that what really matters.

are you KIDDING? A 7800GTX could probably last you 2 almost 3 years before you need to upgrade. 2 7800GTX IMO are just...overkill. In my case, getting 2 7800GT's was not the original option, I just got an extra 7800GT for free;)

Nice decision, in a few months you will be able to get one for half the price. But hey, you might as well pay an extra 200 bucks now for a marginal increase right?
