I have never had any heat issues with my 3200, and the fan stays off 70% of the time when Im not gaming, so it's quiet. Life is good.

anybody use that graphical meter thing? I enabled it on my Asus board and installed the asus gui thing and it works fine (shows it downclocking to 1000 Mhz) but as soon as I restart it the gui thing always shows full speed no matter what I do... anybody know if the gui is just screwing up or is there a flaw somewhere or just a software problem Im missing?

i also have a 3200+ the 2.2 ghz one and my temps when just using internet and everything are 40-45 according to the temp util that came with asus k8n-e deluxe...how about u others...and are these ok temps (retail heatsink and fan)

I am using stock cooling on my NC 3400+ and I run high 40's to mid 50's, I am replacing the crazppy stock thermal "pad" with AS5 tonight, I will share how much this drops her...

mines idle at 39 degrees at the mo.....but in a very stuffy/ moist student dig!!!! not much cool air in here.....at home where i had constant fresh air my rig idles at 32degrees.....this is no cool n quiet......an zalman cnps7000

My A64/3000+ runs 37c idle and 41c load with stock HSF without C&Q.

When I enabled it the temps didn't budge and I lost 9% on all benchmarks.

i just enabled it and my temps dropped 13 degrees already in the webserving mode to 32 degrees for cpu temp and 33 degrees for mobo temp

now if only there were a way to get cool n QUIET no my bfg 6800 gt oc...

i have it enabled and while doing normal windows tasks corecenter shows the temp to be 45 degrees and that the cpu is running at 1000MHz at 1V Vcore. The top temp it reaches is about 65 degrees (when playing games). After enabling c'n'c the drop in noise when doing common windows tasks was very noticable, much quieter than my 2400+ ever was. Stock heatsink and fan btw.

It should be always be enabled BUT only if you're running stock & don't overclock.

yes i use stock and dont oc and i also have stock heatsink and fan ...i have bqe case with 2 120mm fans in it...so it should be pretty cool in there...i can hear a fan going and im not sure if its my bfg graphics card or the vantec stealth i put on the intake but its all i hear...much quieter than my last case...if only i could get rid of this fan it would be silent!

A program like Folding@Home that uses spare CPU cycles from PCs to crunch numbers for scientific research like cures for diseases, finding new pharmaceuticals, searching for aliens, etc. These programs will keep your CPU at 100% usage, so it's pointless to have CnQ enabled, as it'll never have the opportunity to downclock the CPU.

In my bios I have it set to on. I never bothered with the windows drivers for it, since they seem to have caused more harm than good to enable it via windows . Some computers were stuck running cool and quiet mode all the time causing a huge performance hit with a under clocked CPU.

I use it on my Asus P4P800....fully enabled. Not a single issue with temperature running games full bore with stock cooling a P3.0, and the noise is greatly reduced in my Sonata case....

A P4P800 board is a P4 motherboard,How did you get a A64 chip in there?


Last time I checked Cool N Quiet was an A64 thing only.

I?ve recently built a system with an A64 3000+ (S754), Aopen AK89 Max & Zalman Cnps7000B CuAl. I have Cool ?n? Quiet enabled and under a light to moderate load, the CPU fan doesn?t come on at all. It will happily idle and run a light load with a system temp of high 30s and CPU temp of high 40s to high 50s. Under a heavier load the CPU will hit 60 and the fan will kick in and cool things down quickly.
This is with no case fans, so just the power supply handling the cooling.

It?s great to have a system that is cool and quiet under my everyday light load conditions, but has all the power I want when I need it. I?m using Speedfan to turn on the CPU and also a case fan if needed, depending on CPU & SYS temps.

Hats off to AMD for the first desktop CPU with decent thermal control. I?d prefer a Pentium M desktop but those are a bit specialist for me.
