Should computer users should be forced to get a license before they can go on the intarweb?

silly n00b...its internets...not intarweb...ur operating without a license aren't you?

I think that and insurance...it should be like driving a car...if your computer crashes you should have insurance to come out...assess the damge...and then you should have to take it to their shop for "repairs"...and if you caused the crash all the computer guys you asked to help you out should be given due compensation

After reading the driver license thread then this one, I'm tempted to vote yes based on some of the comments and the poll results.

No, everyone has the right to annoy their fellow man anonymously and to view free pornography. That is the essence of the internet.

Well this is a stupid spin off the SUV drivers thread. When the average person's use of the internet can threaten my life then yes they should. Till someone's stupidity can directly result in my death through the use of the internet it's useless.

yes. there is a lot of potentially dangerous information out here. like how to make bombs and stuff. we should NOT let terrorists onto the internet and if we had a good licensing system we could protect everyone.

edit to make sense

Yes. And so should most of the yahoo's that purchase consumer level personal firewall products. Especially AOL users. Sorry, I'm an annoyed tech support engineer. :D

I'm joking of course. Well, not about the firewall part.

Not before they make people get a license before they can own a cell phone and/or drive a SUV.
