I would like to be a nice cast-iron griddle to cook some burgers over my stovetop, and while shopping around I find some of them specify "Should be seasoned before use.".

what does that mean? seasoned with what?

Baking the cookware with something covering it to make it non-sticky. Forget what to use, some sort of oil probably

I always sprinkle cracked black pepper and a little garlic and a pinch of salt in my cast-iron and heat it up real good before I toss my burgers on, easy and really makes the flavor come out. the seasoning is up to you.

Thin coating of oil then bake for several hours on low(about 250 F).

Don't use it until it's seasoned or anything you cook in it will taste like cast iron, bleh.
