Should Anandtech have a "photography" section?

Setting up a forum (technically) is the easy part. But then it needs a draw. The draw for the DPreview.com forums is the main site, featuring Phil's reviews and digicam news. The draw for Fredmiranda is its really good lens rating section and For Sale/Trade forum. So, if we were to set something up, it would need a good front end and something to draw people. Perhaps an even better lens/accessory rating area?

I personally would love to see something along those lines...

What i always end up doing is going to some sites for the reviews, then to pbase for the photos, then to a final site to ask questions...

It would be great if we could do something that combined all 3.

Yeah that question was easy, but here is a harder one, not a technical one but deals with common sense a bit more

For people who are just entering the dslr scene, what would you recomend them to get?

(btw, I'm not that new, own a 350d and a few lenses)

No Sports section means you'll have a hard time getting one for Photography.
Photography is a lot more technical than sports 😕

There's more sports threads in OT than photography threads

Who cares how technical it is? If you really have a technical camera question go to the Anandtech for camera's.. Sports are more casual and appeal to way more people on a greater scale then picture taking..

All good ideas, It should not be hard to get people to join this new website/forum if we mention it from time to time on anandtech.

will we want to concentrate on digital photography or some film as well? maybe a section for film/analog photography.

The sections that we should have are:

For Sale/Trade
Gear/Camera Equipment
Lighting and techniques
Off Topic (ofcourse 😛)
Critiques
Film/Analog
We should also offer a weekly/monthly assignment like FM it will bring some fun into the forum.

If we want to get into the specifics:
Macro
Sports
portraits
landscape
architecture
etc etc...

I'm def interested in doing something like this... If done right, i think it could be an excellent site that combines the best of the various sites around right now.
