Yes, legalization of drugs is the only option that will successfully control drug use. We've been fighting the "War on Drugs" for how long? Guess what? It hasnt done anything but put alot of money in peoples hands. Its boiled down to politics. If a Senator gets up and has an agenda to fight drugs, we, the mindless mass, stand behind him. Us few free thinkers, such as myself and a few others here, realize this is foolish. Why should I pay my tax dollars to the governmetn, who in turn uses it for more police force and also gives it to a foriegn country so they can also attempt to stop drug production. Yay. I pay for another countries police force, who, for the most part, are corrupt anyways! And this goes for all drugs. Did you know, they used to sell cocaine? And use it as a pain killer? And morphine as well? But now? Whats changed? The drug is the same. Peoples outlooks have changed. And why is alcohol "socially" acceptable, where as marijuana is considered taboo? And, to boot, marijuana at least has medical benefits! Alos, people like to bring up the fact the drugs kill people, so God forbid we legalize! Does anyone know how many people alcohol kills every year? A HELL of a lot more then marijuana. Granted, harder drugs DO kill people. But, at least with legalization we accomplish some of the most fundamental steps required for "safer" drug use...
1) Its now controlled, and must be of a certain grade...No more laced or impure drugs.
2) The government would make a FORTUNE off of taxes placed on drugs, rather then having to tax a fortune to support the war on drugs
3) With government control comes the ability to limit, to an extent, the hands it falls into. Yes, alcohol ends up in minors hands. But, so do drugs. With legalization, at least there may be less that gets to the children, and the quality wouldnt be suspect.
Thats my view. The only reason drugs are considered bad is because the government and the media has effectively brainwashed up into believeing this nonsense. Same with Prohibition of alcohol. It USED to be oh so bad, but now? Its a multi BILLION dollar industry. Think for yourself people, dont let the government think for you.
