Looks like he'll run in Minnesota in 08. I'm a Franken fan and think he'd make a great senator. Plus I like smart comedian's.
 
It would be great because of the humor we could get out of it. Nice to see a politician with a good sense of humor who doesn't have someone else write his jokes.
 
only if he wants to run for a seriously blue state and even that is iffy...personally I think he is a partisan bafoon that has no place in politics and should have stuck with his Stewart smalley routine but I guess these days anyone can make it in politics.
 
he's partisan (as are you and me) but he's intelligent, not a bafoon. hell, G. Gordan Liddy is one of his best friends...

Franken is a Jackass, right up there with Rush, Hannity and Moore....if you think meatballs such as this should be involved in policy and decision making for the good of the nation then I feel sorry for the future of this country...

again, he is a comedian and should have stayed as such....I say the same thing about Arnold and governor, these people should have little to no place in politics....unfortunately they show the current system to be the circus that it is.

there is a BIG difference in being aligned with certain beliefs/ideas and then being a complete lunatic fringe member...I assume you associate with Franken so well being that you yourself are a bit loony.

Was Rush on the armed forces radio when Klinton was in office? honestly I don't know and would be interested in knowing.....

honestly I have no idea how one would get him off the air in that regards, I could see why the military would want to keep him on as truth be told it is a moral booster to hear someone say what we are doing, and what they are doing there is the right thing....would you rather them play Franken who bleats the wrong war wrong time message while they are over there getting shot and killed?

I guess my point was he doesnt care if you are replublican or democrat, just responsible, smart etc....

Yep he's a comedian, that's why I asked the question. I personally think he's as qualified for the job than anyone else doing it.
 
Although Franken is liberal, and I am as well, from a very superficial pov, any fringe right/left wingers should not be in office. I always felt that slightly left leaning moderates win and make sure progress happens.

Extremism = bad.

I seriously doubt this first statement, while he might be "tolerant" of some conservatives based on intellect his whole stance is in direct opposition to many base conservative ideals.....

I don't think he is or would be a good representative of the people, but then again I don't think most of the people currently in the Senate are either so take it for what it is worth.

Here is a note on extremism:

There is nothing wrong with being extreme in and of itself. At one point abolitionists were extreme. So were American revolutionaries. Being a moderate during the civil war would have made you a slaver-appeaser.

I also challenge you to point out how Franken is more fringe than say George W Bush.

pretty poor and or biased comparisons Info, in talking about slavery about half if not more of the coutry viewed it as "wrong" at the time of the civil war...while an argument can be made using the exit polls and the after election numbers that the dems/liberals are about 50% one has to remember they ran and run candidates who are fairly moderate in their stance....extremism can be bad in many instances, heck look at Dave and what it has done to his life 🙂
