that's a bullshit holiday. patriot's day commemorates the battles of lexington and concord, ma, the first battles in the revolutionary war. but they didn't have facebook so fuck it, right?

and, veteran's day, still armistice day outside the US, originally commemorated the end of ww1 but had been extended as a day noting all veterans. but, fuck them too, right? what's the point of a memorial if you're too dead to enjoy it?

while we're at it, let's replace all instances of "washington" with "beyonce"

9/11 shouldn't be a holiday because our reaction to it was complete failure.

I'd much rather see the anniversary of Pearl Harbor be a holiday. We were badasses back then.

That said, I'd rather 9/11 be a holiday than Ceaser fucking Chavez' birthday. Fuck you California.
 
speaking of India.....that reminds me of a story I heard about S&^%$#&^%......
He went to the doctor with a rash and hives and he was sneezing and coughing and his eyes were red......

S*&^%$%^ said to the Doctor......something is very wrong with me.....Please help me!

The doctor said to S&*%^$#@^ have you been dreaming about the Palestinians again?

S&^%$^&*% said...Doc this is much worse something is really wrong with me!

Sorry, we moved out all of our modern ships before Pearl Harbor.

As for the second statement, well, if you compare it to pearl harbor, we actually gave the terrorists legitimate targets. Providing that flight 93 was going to go to the white house... if it was intended to go elsewhere, then the attacks make about as much sense as Pearl Harbor.
 
We have the same debate here over Remembrance Day on November 11th. The going argument against it is that kids should be in school to learn about the events, and that turning it into a fun party day cheapens what happened. There are a couple of provinces that have made it a holiday. I lean towards the no side though. Kids need to learn about the futility of war. Especially the ones coming from countries that seem to be glorifying it right now.

Holiday? For whom? We didn't exactly fair very well that day, if ya remember.
The other guys got the jump on us and caught us with our pants down.
Not only down, we were bent over and all lubed up.
We took one for the team, but it wasn't our team.
So I don't know for whom this would be a day in the category of holiday?
I guess we could call it chalk one up for Bin Laden day?
Or the day of intelligence naivety?
Or the day those fereners cleared the way for new construction in downtown Manhattan.
And no doubt some that would call it the day GW purposely attacked America.
 
as long as it occurs on the actual date, 9/11... none of that rescheduling to Monday crap.

Monday holidays are the worst. it's my normal day off regardless, but when there's a holiday it means everything is suddenly crowded (and my boyfriend, off from work, actually wants to like go out and do stuff instead of me having the day to sit at home in my underwear playing video games)
