I'm 21 years old and have been self employed for years. Things aren't going so well now, and I need to get, well, a regular job. I have no real world job experience at all. My friend says working at McDonalds for a month is not a bad idea. What do you think?

work ur way up to manager 😛

thers a lady working on mcdonalds beforei was born

my brother told me. and then now i'm about 16 and she is still working ther and is like the manager 😛

you ought to be able to find something better than that. There are lots of places that you can get a job for a bit of extra money like that.

Any job is better then no job! if that is all there is then go forit.
Good luck on your job hunting.

<< If it's only for a month, that should be alright. >>

I agree. And it's low-stress enough that it won't preclude you from looking for another job

no, work at a Comp Usa or some other store in your city. Stores are better to work at then Fast Food places.

Try getting a job at Wal-Mart. They'll hire anyone(believe me, you should see some of my co-workers), and it really isn't that bad of a job, despite what you may hear. This is my 1st job, and it's pretty decent. I started at almost $7.00 an hour and for my area that's pretty good to start out. It could be more depending on where you live.

No offense when I say they'll hire anyone, I just mean it'll be easy to get a job there probably. This IMO would be a more viable option than working at McDonalds or any other fast food chain if this does turn out to be more than a month.

definately put that as your last resort. try k-mart, wal-mart, sams club, best buy, fry's, circuit city, comp usa, the mall, anything other then mcdonalds. i know a few ppl who'ved work there and they busted their balls working there. i mean it's alright for the 14/15 year olds first job, but if you're 21 and have been self employed all this time, i dont know what you'll think. ill give you 2 weeks before you end up quitting and walking out.

best bet is to try comp usa or some other electronics store. im sure you have some kind of knowledge of computers if you post here.

hope this helps.

600 post, and counting.

Hey man, work at a movie theater, preferably one that has the least geekiest outfit...sure beats serving up fries...no offense to anyone who works at mickey d's. free movies vs getting fat on free food... you pick.

You've been self employeed, doing what? Obviously you have have some skill in something. Try to find a job that will use your skills.

If you're willing to work at MCD's and you're 21 already, forget it. You are of legal age to serve alcohol so you can go work at a restaurant as a server and make 2-3 times the cash.

I agree, waiting tables would put more cash in your pocket.

I would think there's better jobs, if it's what you need to do though, do it. Look around at other places, maybe working at a mall or something. They'll usually pay more then fast food.
