Shoud i go to Winxp pro or stay @ win2k pro?

okay, I just installed Win2k pro earlier this week, and now I have magically gained a copy of WinXp Pro Corporate and wondering if it's worthwhile to upgrade and if I do, what if anything, will i have to reinstall? can I keep all my installed programs without reinstalling?

Please let me know

Tell me something i didnt know, my friend works with a computer company and he got a legit copy, but all he did was burn it with a few modifications so i dont need the activation. but that's not the question. I want to know if i should go up to XP or stay with 2K and if i go up to XP, do I need to reinstall??

Have you spent much time actually using WinXP yet? If you like it, use it...If not, stick with Win2k. This is not really a question that you should ask here...This a personal question as to if it is going to work for you or not. Shouldn't let us answer a question like this for you..That is YOUR decision.🙂

When I try out new OSe's, I set them up on a seperate HDD as to not bone a set up I allready have dialed in...Might give that a try to see if you like it..

now that's an honest answer, thanks alot, I'm going trash Linux right now, I use it for programming, but i can trash it for now, install XP then partition it if I like it! Good idea!

I have just got WinXP Pro too... the one that doesn't need activation. I installed it right away. So far, i have not seen much difference between xp and 2000 except the interface. The first impression i had with this new xp interface is "MacOS"!!! It totally feel like MacOS.... looks like microsoft is copying again.
Anyways.... i'm using tri-boot with bootmagic...so now i have win98se as my primary os...and 2000k and xp on different partitions for me to play around with.... maybe i can tell u more about xp once i'm more familiar with it.

I've installed xp from winme and I must say its alot better. I notice things open and close alot faster, memory management is *excellent*. Only thing is that my Vortex 2 card is having problems 🙁. And games runs a teensy bit slower, (only some) Other than that I am very happy. Fast, nice looking once you customize it. And for once windows media player doesnt actually suck.
