Shots vs. mixed drinks

When you're at a party, and are looking to loosen your nerves a bit..which do you prefer?

I personally go for shots, and get the effect going as quickly as possible:beer:

depends on the drink.. rum.. either straight or with coke.

whisky.. straight or with beer (not mixed.. just drink em together.. on/off kind of thing)

brandy - straight

vodka.. straight. unless you like yorsh 😉

love scotch and some vodka (stolichnaya & moskovskaya) and rum
I can definitely hold my liquor, but I don't like being that drunk. Just a little loosened up, maybe _slightly_ buzzed

Mixed drinks. I need to have a drink in my hand, even if it's been watered down by ice. If I do a shot, I tend to get a beer or a mixed drink afterwards anyways.

I don't get doing shots. Why chug something that's going to make your grimace when you can sip on something tasty. Give me a nice rum and tonic and I'm a happy camper......3-5 of them and I'll be a very happy camper. 😛

I don't get doing shots. Why chug something that's going to make your grimace when you can sip on something tasty. Give me a nice rum and tonic and I'm a happy camper......3-5 of them and I'll be a very happy camper. 😛

because not all shots make you grimace. i find a lot of shots quite good. tequila+tabasco=tasty. plus those new vanilla vodka varieties are interesting...

because not all shots make you grimace. i find a lot of shots quite good. tequila+tabasco=tasty. plus those new vanilla vodka varieties are interesting...

Right, but if something is tasty you should sip and enjoy right? Believe me, a couple of nice strong mixed drinks will fsck you up just as much as a few shots. Sipping also allows for more accurate buzz management whereas shots are a quick way to end up puking in the petunias.

true...i suppose thats why i sip my shots too. i'm not knocking mixed drinks--i think they're great too. but it just so happens that i can't fit a lot of liquid in me.

btw...its fairly easy to manage your buzz with chaser shots.

btw...its fairly easy to manage your buzz with chaser shots.

I think it's an age thing too. I did shots when I was in my early 20's, but I just don't really see that at parties once I hit 30.
