. . . in India!

http://gulfnews.com/news/asia/india/watch-man-cries-at-wedding-held-at-gun-point-1.2151570

A man, who was kidnapped so he could be forcibly married off, cried bitterly as women performed wedding rituals overseen by an array of guns to his head.

These nuptials are known in local parlance as 'Pakadua Vivah' or forcible marriage. Families who want to get well-settled grooms for their daughters, but cannot meet the demands of dowry abduct boys.

Vinod Kumar, a junior engineer with Bokaro Steel Plant, a Government of India enterprise, had gone to attend the wedding of his friend in Nalanda district recently when he was kidnapped by a group of men.

Kumar was dragged to the wedding rituals and thrashed there. As he wailed, women used their saris to wipe his tears.

“We are only performing your wedding, not hanging you. Why are you crying loudly? Shut up,” the girl’s relative is heard telling the groom in a video.

Kumar said he didn’t cooperate because he hadn’t got the consent of his parents. They then held guns to his temple.

“They (the girl’s family) befriended me during the wedding and asked me to step out. They kidnapped me and took me to a home where I was forced to put vermillion in the hair of a girl. I had never seen her and I don’t know who she is,” Kumar said.

Based on Kumar’s written complaint, police have ordered an investigation into the incident, which took place in Mokama area of Patna district. “We have asked an official to investigate and act against the guilty. Action will be taken after the probe,” Patna’s senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaj said.

The incidents of 'forcible marriages' are quite common in Bihar. According to an official report, a total of 2,877 incidents of kidnapping for marriages were reported in 2016, 3,001 incidents in 2015, 2,533 in 2014 and 2,922 in 2013. The districts notorious for such marriages include Begusarai, Patna, Lakhisarai, Munger, Jehanabad, Gaya, Nawada, Sheikhpura and Arwal.

That's freaking terrifying.

Actually I'm surprised forced marriages + divorces are not a thing even here. It would be an easy and legal way for a woman to get half of everything a man owns and then get alimony and child support on top of it. Do that to a couple guys and retire and live off all the income.

WTF's up with that bottom pic?! If that isn't shopped, they've got some crazy genes going on in that family. They don't even look exactly human. Like they split off from the tree a couple thousand years ago, and did their own thing.

"Hypertrichosis universalis (AKA werewolf syndrome) is a genetic mutation, in which cells that normally switch off hair growth in unusual areas, like the eyelids and forehead, are left switched on.It means the girls have had abnormal hair growth on their bodies and even their faces, affecting their eyebrows, nose and giving them appearance of having a beard.
They must use a special cream every day - otherwise the hair will quickly return. The youngest sister Savitri is still virtually covered in hair."

Coincidentally, their mother was also forced to marry their father who had this condition.

The condition was passed down by the girls' father, who Anita was forced to marry at a very young age of 12.Because theirs was an arranged marriage and she did not lay eyes on him until the wedding day, she had no idea he was suffering from the condition himself.

Their mum Anita, 40, said her husband - who died in 2007 and whose portrait hangs in the family home - also suffered from werewolf syndrome.

Anita was being looked after by her uncle and auntie as her parents had passed away and they told her if she didn't marry this man they would kill her off. She said: 'It was only on the day of my marriage that I discovered what he was, (he) was hairy on his face, ears and body, that's when I found out.

'I was very young, I didn't know what kind of boy he was, he scared the hell out of me when he arrived at the altar. He's the groom, I am the bride, I had no idea what all that meant.
'I was only 12 when they forced me into marriage, and if you don't agree to marriage as a girl they will kill you off.

I kind of figured, but even without the hair they look kind of strange. Androgynous isn't even the right word. They just look like /something else/ altogether.

That's freaky. Sounds like a crappy condition to have for a girl. That first girl almost has more facial hair than I do lol.

I've seen you without a shirt on and you look like you haven't hit puberty yet so that isn't saying much.

Haha you probably have not seen me with a full beard. For someone that looks like 12 I can grow one pretty decently. :p

I actually managed to not get carded at the liquor store the other day!
