Shortening Floppy cable

Gomce

Senior member
This cable that connects the floppy to the motherboard is so long, how can I shorten it? By cutting it ?

don't do that, unless you know exactly what you were doing..... but then again if you were you wouldn't be asking us.
I would just go buy a short cable online.
maybe there are guides on how to do it?

<< cut the end w/o the twist

you'll be fine, as long as youre not retarded 😉

thats how to do it...........just make sure you watch how you cut it........make it a clean cut. round floppy cables are not that expensive and come very short

just a thought

Jen congrads on becoming diamond 🙂

anyway, what is clean cut? where should I cut it, after the first black or second black connector?

you need to keep the "twisted" part for the drive to be recognized as the A: drive.
apparently it's something IBM invented for when computers might have both a 3.5" & 5.25" floppy.

that is your cable up there, cut the part w/o the twist so it looks like this:

just use a utility knife or some old scissors you dont mind dulling up, just cut it, they're only wires, they wont bite 😉
