short, rounded ide cable question?

I am setting up a Shuttle SV-25 flex computer.

I am going to be using the hard drive on IDE 0 as the master and the CD/RW on IDE 2 as the master. The ribbon cables are rather difficult to work with and do not seem quite long enough to do percission bending to avoid messy air blocking. Fitting two rounded 2 drive cables wastes a lot of space and still makes the case very crowded.

I have been unable to locate a source of short rounded single drive IDE cables.

My question is -

Can I just cut off the second drive extension from the usual length rounded 2 drive IDE cable without causing any electrical problems?
