I just posted this in comp.sys.palmtops.pilot, but I bet that the great folks in AT can answer it faster. 🙂
I have a Visor Edge that I believe has been frying my USB ports. I've not been able to verify this 100%, because testing it for sure involves killing another USB port. However, I have done some tests on the Visor itself and I'm hoping someone out there with a good Visor Edge can repeat my test.
I've been measuring the resistances across the Visor pins looking for shorts, and I found something odd. If you're looking at the back of the Edge, the pins are numbered in reverse order, pin 12 first through pin 1 all the way to the right. Pin 2 is TXD/POWER, and I only see 20 ohms between that and pin 8, which is ground. Also, pin 8 is shorted to the little metal piece on the case that holds the bottom of the stylus, so there's 20 ohms between pin two and the stylus holder as well.
If anyone out there has a Visor Edge and a multimeter and can repeat this quick test and let me know the results, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
