I like my current email address because its basically my name. People see it and can pretty easily deduce that I am the one who sent it. The downside is that its 23 characters long. That's a lot of typing when I have to use my email address to log in to sites. I am thinking about setting up another email account with a very short username to use for logging into websites but then again that seems like a hassle.

Which would you opt for? A short email address or one that people recognize right away?

I'd say one that people recognize. Mine's my name (@gmail) and it's decently long, but it's easy for people to remember-- and I don't think people care much about that.

The email address I used for business purposes is my first initial, middle initial, and last name @gmail. Everything else is garbage screen names 😀

I got <first initial><last name>@gmail.com

Getting in on gmail early has its perks, like I got the name I wanted, however now I get spam from every other person with the same combination. Some other guy posted a much longer thread on this but it is annoying as heck when its constant.

If you want a forum/login/spam mail make it something short and easy to remember. For personal stuff stick with your name one.

i like to use firstname or firstname.lastname@domian.com. I prefer first@domain of course since it's short and relevant.

Unfortunately for me, my name is far too common to use gmail, so I had to tack on numbers. I hate adding numbers, heh. but it's what I use now pretty much. I have another email address, but it's probably pointless to tell everyone to change it since I chat with them on google talk anyway.

I have a second e-mail as my spam account. Problem is I've started using it for everything I fill out and it has basically replaced my personal e-mail account.

I never get spam in my personal account though so I'm doing something right.
