Shopping forums listed first, before hardware forums?

WTH is going on here? Did I click something amiss? Did the site owners want our Shopping forums to be first? Or did someone screw up a server config or some CSS somewhere on the site?

Actually i like it at the top. Maybe we can get the FS/FT forums and the Hot Deals forums a boost again.

I also don't really think we need a Black Friday forum for something that happens once a year.

I'd rather see the Hot Deals forum and a Contests and Giveaways forum separated.

Maybe that's the idea... not a bad one, mind you, but I, like many users of this forum, are creatures of habit. Most of us view any sort of change as "bad".

I'm sure that I'll get used to it... eventually. Muscle memory and all that.

Edit: Btw, instead of a Black Friday forum, what about a COVID-19 Supplies and TP deals forum.
People could post where they found some TP for sale, some supplies, good stock-up sales, etc.
That might bring an influx of people to the site. Then again, would have to moderate that forum, to prevent "resellers" from setting up threads there to sell online privately at inflated prices. Would have to moderate that and FS/FT carefully.

Whoa! This is really messing with me. I have a system of certain forums I go through daily (all in the lower half of the forum) and they just separated my forums.

why are the For Sale / Shopping / etc subforums now at the top of the forum home page?
Shouldn't the forums stay arranged by degree of being-related-to-tehc-stuff? i.e. CPU, Mobos and other hardware on top, software under that, using software (editing, gaming, etc) below, and then the OTs and other not-related-to-tech-news stuff .. like For Sale.

It was done by the Future folks to highlight those categories at least while the world is doing more shopping from home so post up any good deals you find or items you want to sell.

2. Only if you are not selling them at a profit. That is not what FS/FT is for. Shortage of items has never been a reason to make money off of other members here. From the FS/FT rules: If you acquire items in quantity (bulk sales) with the intent of offering them for resale, here, you are a dealer under this rule" and dealers are not allowed.

The only good I see coming from this is more traffic to the fs/ft forum. I must confess though I've never seen a forum not put it's main forums at the top. If I'm new to anandtech I would think it was a pawn shop

MXNERD cited a fix. There is a down and/or an up arrow at the end of every Forum heading. Clicking the up arrow on the For Sale Forum compresses it all into the title, and that works for me.

While on this topic, let's get rid of the "New" icons on almost every subforum. They Are Not New. It'd be one thing if they indicated a new topic posted since my last visit but they don't.

It's a hardware site and hence hardware forum at time makes sense right? Shopping at top just leaves a bad taste back. it's like ads you can't filter. I'm not here to shop.

Pass on the FS/FT. That should be at the bottom of the forums list. If you want to go there, you know where it's at. As it is, it just gets in the way. Is there a way to order the forums ourselves? Yes, I've collapsed the sub forum. It still is annoying for something you only peruse once in a while.

While we're throwing out suggestions, can we place Black Friday in inside hot deals? I can't imagine people use this more than a month before the actual day. Then it just sits there getting unused... forever. It's like you purposely created a dead forum. It should be only temporary, IMHO.

To be honest, the Black Friday forum should probably be renamed to "Holiday Deals" or something. Most stores are starting their end of year sales in early November now, long before Thanksgiving.

Are they going to keep moving the darn forums around? If not you could at least put the for sale/trade forums back to where they were before you moved them the first time? <frustrated smiley>

Edit: They were between the social and forum issues forums if I remember correctly.
