http://www.shop4tech.com/user.htm?go=view_item&id=2423&cata=1&s_cata=88_r158
100pk is 26.10
50pk 15.30

Apply coupon xpbargains10 to get the reflected price above^

BTW, I'd spent 13.80 plus taxes at walmart for 6 of 4x dvd-r media and I'd regretted it and so should anyone. Retailors/B&M store sucks...

coupon expires 7/31, so get it while you can.

43.20 for 200

so far am able to backup all my 700gb worth of junk into dvdr, what can I say? WOOHOO!
problem is, no one want to buy my hd on ebay at a price I think its fair, a few talk me down say 60gb for 35 shipped..
120gb for 50 bucks shipped. bad price :(

They are real good! only 2 out of 50 that was defective, it would fail to burn at 80 percent and as obvious by looking at the media it is smeared at the outer layer.
so why pay more when you can pay less for something that works just as good.

But I've never gotten a defective Ritek G04...

The price on those Sonics is definitely nice but I'll pay a bit more for higher quality media. Those would be good for casual burning but I take no chances with my backups and have had really good luck with Ritek.

I'm having problems with the Sonics. I ordered a large batch for my Pioneer A05. Nero has never liked these disks, gives "power calibration" errors, and disks burned with other software either have sector errors or are unreadable. I'm going to go back to the default drive firmware and see if that fixes the problem.

Recently I saw a news report of some poor bozo who was seeing his dvd 'backup' collection flaking away after two or three years or so. I have no idea what that implies for this particular deal other than to suggest that there may be a quality cutoff point in the current crop of dvd blanks that might ---> flake heartbreak. Does anyone know where Sonics rank in the quality listings? I'm too lazy to go to vcdhelp.com, but I'm inclined to never go below Riteks in cost/quality.

Its your computer or your burner, not the media.
I was having this problem with optorite burner but putting that same drive on a decent computer with good motherboard solved this problem.
my liteon 812s has this problem too! got fed up and RMA it to newegg, hopefully the new one will not have this problem.
My uncle has a standalone dvdrw+VHS recorder, it works great on dvd player!!!
so again don't blame this on media just because it doesn't work for you but it works for many others.

so you are saying that you wouldn't put things that you feel are important to you on these discs?

The only thing I am going to say here is that you usually get what you pay for...why not cough up an extra few bucks for media that's known and tested to be reliable and of high quality?

Sometimes saving money can cost you in the end, especially in the case of backups. I don't think I'd want to scrimp on discs if I was backing up important system files or anything else I wanted to ensure was still around in 5-10 years. Technically, the lifespan of DVD's should be 100+ years but I don't want to take any chances...

I've bought 100 of these disks from shop4tech and, honestly, they suck. There were several scratched up disks from the beginning and these are VERY hard to read for consoles and dvd players. Though you may not notice a difference for your movie backups, ps2 backups definitely are unusable. Movies skip like crazy for some games and loading time is horrid. I've used many brands of discs before, including some of the other cheap ones at shop4tech and these are BY FAR the worst. HD Loader shows that these discs read at around 150KB/s-300KB/s on the PS2 while better discs read at 1,500KB/s, which explains the skipping.

BTW, discs also seem to die out rather quickly after heavy use. I've never had any trouble with any other disc before, even the ones that everyone seemed to have trouble with, but these are just plain garbage. I've got like $20,000 worth of equippment for my Home Theatre and computer, so it's not my hardware.

I *have* a good computer and drive, thank you. :) All my ram is Kingston, my ps is a 400 Antec, my burner is a Pioneer with an MSI NFORCE2 MB. It was probably the modified firmware I was using; region free with burning 1x media at 2x. Or maybe I just got a medicore batch of disks. I went to Pioneer's latest firmware, and while I still had problems burning at 4x, it seems to work just fine at 2x. And Nero isn't pissy about the media anymore.

Moral of the the story: if you have problems with these disks, try using the default firmware or burn at 2x.

been burning these discs (around 100 now) at 4X with a liteon 851, 9 discs in 10 come out fine on verification, about 10% will have read errors. movies will play fine on any dvd player i've tried.

at less than half the price of other discs, this is a great deal.

The irony, you'll spend $20,000 on your home theatre and computer, but won't spend $20 for a movie or $50 for a game.:D

Rob the way you are pushing these things makes you sound like you work for the company:D

For you lazy people who dont wanna look how horrible these discs are here you go

Linky

I would advise against these. Ya Rob you only had 2 bad out of 50 but, how long are they going to last in the long run. Go for it if you dont care about your backups or plan on reburning them in a year.

That's cause no-one likes the RIAA or MPAA any more. :p

As for games, I would definately rather use a backup rather than the original, most (Sony) game machines' disc mechanisms cause nasty circular scratches from extended use, the PS2 being worse than the PSX in this regard, since it uses a tray, and tends to collect dust inside and on it.
