Why do you want to purchase local? If you are willing to settle for a 270x, then skip the sales tax and head over to newegg and pick one out. The prices on 270/270x have not went up much, unlike the prices of 280x which have gone up more than $100 😡

By the way, I've recently found a 280X at CDW, but it was sold 10 minutes later from what I understand.

At OP, if you are looking to buy at any retail store in NYC, I suggest you call them first, especially now with the Holidays and the 280/290 shortage.
 
B&H Photo, 34th St. and 9th avenue. It is much better than J&R now that J&R is shrinking. B&H has these overhead conveyors and is staffed by Hasidic Jews so it has a very unique vibe to it. I like to go even when I am not planing to purchase anything. They aren't opened Saturday however because the management is very religious and that is their Sabbath.

Retail stores in NYC ehh are ok. Theres the usually listed above and then Micro-center. However for GPUs the best deals are found online. Negg no tax. Amazon tax but excellent post-sales support
