Shooting steel at 250 yards with a suppressed AR

What a kick ass afternoon.

I wanted to build a new reloading bench as my old one was left in the house when we sold it. I decided today was the day. So I built a new bench this afternoon and of course decided to try it out before I hauled it into the house.
Figured it was time to set up a steel plate on a fence post I had measured out to around 250 yards so today was the day! Got everything finished up this evening and figured better have some fun time with it.

I've never shot at a known 250 yard target so while shooting this distance isnt anything entirely new knowing the distance and having a bench are new! I have to admit.....Its a hell of a lot of fun. Next up....500 yards!! A Krieger barrel is boringly easy at 250 yards on an 8" steel plate. The pole in question is the one on the right, closest to the tree.

Thats one of the great things about shooting steel. It also helps to illustrate how quite the rifle is as well as the camera is towards the muzzle of the rifle.
 
250 is too easy for a nice AR.
get back to 4-500 and make it interesting. 😉

what kind of groups can you hold with the can on?

I havent worked up any groups with the can on yet. It shouldnt be much worse than what it is with the can off though which is why I havent been in a real big hurry to check it out. My biggest problem is I need to make another solid bench to shoot from.

500 is next but I may buy a bigger target for the first few times. 8" plates at 500 is getting to be pretty small. I htink a 10" or 12" plate would be a nice size for that range until I get used to it.

I'm not sure what you mean here. I hope you don't mean that you shoot at unidentified things, because that is not safe firearms handling at all.

Should have said known distance. I've shot at around 650 yards but I didnt know it at the time. I guesstimated it to be 450 or so yards and came up WAY short. Had to walk the rounds onto the target.

In this case I had measured the distance before shooting.

3.7 mile shots? I can't see that far even with superb optics.....
